Hi,
So, I'm a risk-taking investor, as in I like to put money into things that are unstable to have the possibility of enormous returns. I invested a few dollars in bitcoin a couple of years ago, and now I'm worth a few thousand dollars extra. Which is phenomenal.
I wanted to know what TOTJO's take on the cyber currency is. Here are some informational videos:

If you want to debate bitcoin, you should go here (also talk in this thread!):
http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin
http://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinCharity (where they talk about donating using bitcoin for charity).
Also, if you want to make a wallet and get started with bitcoin, I suggest coinbase, where I host my wallet:
coinbase.com
I think bitcoin is very important to our society. It is a nice and deregulated currency, meaning that when it settles (probably in the next couple of years), we will see more people internationally using this currency for good! I hope you'll think about it, and we can talk about it here.

I'm relatively surprised that, thus far, cryptocurrency has taken new, weird names rather than being based on fictional currencies. I'm almost certain that the combination of rights management issues and "holy crap, I didn't know we could make our own!" is the only thing keeping us from having already seen credits, wulongs, and double-dollars.

I don't see why not. It's considered a legitimate currency by most net-users (even if it's not universally accepted), and the exchange rate is interesting, to say the least. It's been used for charities because it bypasses all that international regulation nonsense at the moment, and is mostly self-regulating. Besides that, there are so many ways to pay online now (credit cards, online wallets [PayPal, Amazon, Google, WePay, Dwolla, etc.], and altcoin) that there are many interesting ways to accept donations.
I, for one, am not of the opinion that TOTJO should turn away well-intentioned currency intended for its upkeep in any form, but I don't make those decisions. lol

I am saying that bitcoin is another outlet to use in promoting charities and the like.
Ricky, to be honest, I donated that 5k to a charity focused on cancer awareness and research. I wasn't planning on making a career out of it.
Yes, TOTJO could accept donations in bitcoin form, if they wanted to.
I have no clue what Akkarin is talking about, but I'd love to hear those details.
