Creepy Technology... was created by Zenchi
Very Disturbing if not creepy. Once man has thought of something, he goes out of his way to achieve it without contemplating first if he could, but should... http://www.learning-mind.com/five-creepiest-advances-in-artificial-intelligence/

I read this article and am shocked by the idea of programming a "schizophrenic robot." Whatever could be the point of that? I agree with Shinzen. Oftentimes people only think of whether they can achieve a thing, not whether or not they should. For me there are many questionable technological "advances" in the world with horrible side effects. For example, nuclear power plants. They generate energy that is true, but we still don't know what to do with nuclear waste. I think we must be smart about the "advances" we seek to achieve; smart technology.

Who knows? maybe the simulation of schizophrenia could help test treatments on the condition

Or we create terminator robots that destroy humanity while talking to themselves...

These are some creepy robots. However they do all serve practical uses, it is just harder to see the potential uses while these inventions are still in their beginning phases. Could it spell doom for all of man-kind? Possibly. Could it lead us into the next golden age? Also possible. Not seeing a clear outcome can sometimes be the most fun part. I'm interested in seeing what will become of all this, maybe I'll ask that last robot. ;)

May the Force be with you,
Rai

So then the question that begs to be asked, is when exactly do we pull the plug?

When they can take my consciousness and put it into one of the robots that are smart, strong and has a never ending power supply, and can act in a manner befitting a Jedi. Then you can pull the plug on my rotting corpse.

Like typical humans we will attempt to "pull the plug" when it's already too late. Like the movie "Screamers" we will weaponize it and when it adapts and thinks for itself, it will evolve and we will be dead.
