Wow, I wish I had been born just a few years earlier to say I had seen it then. I had a similar experience, except it was at home, watching the VHS tapes. During one summer, before the Special Edition of the original trilogy came out, I watched one of the movies nearly every day. It would be safe to say I was obsessed. So I took to the internet chat rooms, found a few people who were just as obsessed, and I never looked back.

I started thinking of the Force as something real, but it was some years (or months, I can't really remember) before I happened upon someone who had the same views.
