Why do we speak?

I know I have the same issue with not taking my time to respond. For me, it's a matter of patience on my part because I feel the urge to get my opinion out as soon as possible. I've been learning to take a step back, observe, reflect, meditate, then respond. I'm not nearly at the level I wish to be, but I'm getting there. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Actually I just like the sound of my own voice.

To know, to dare, to will, to keep silent.

Agreed. One of my greatest lessons was when I learned to shut up and learn. Silence is such a great teacher.

Great post thanks Connor.
I took your challenge and it was really interesting. I decided to stop replying to a thread which contains every trigger that gets me going, and honestly, nothing happened. It wasnt hard to ignore it. I did heave a couple great sighs of "really. i mean Really?!" but other than that
There are many times both online and off when I could say something, or do have experience/knowledge or whatever about the topic, but my contribution would not actualy add anything to the conversation.
But I have also recently learned that it doesnt matter if you are actually contributing, or being clever or helpful... Sometimes the people are just not interested in hearing you, only in making you hear them.
Which in itself I guess is a good thing, sometimes just letting someone be heard is enough.

Exactly right, Brenna!
Sometimes, we're so caught up in adding, that we don't see we're not adding anything of substance.
And, it makes the times that we DO speak much more important.

I often read , but don't reply because it has either already been said or its way too long to say right.
