For myself peoples emotions effect me a lot, and my body end up reacting to it sometimes Drastically. So in the end i usually try to balance the bad emotions around me with Good emotions. If i feel as if i am surrounding myself with too much unhappiness i find that i need to move away for a while. The best thing to Do is be the one there to help her. Bring her away and get her mind off of things.

It is never easy when someone you love suffers from depression. I do believe that some people are more psychic than others. I also believe that some of our emotional problems can very well come from our past lives.

What is really important is what your fiancée believes. If she believes she is psychic and wishes to do some protection work, I can provide you with a detailed protection ritual. If you think this could help Lykeios, I would be more than happy to pm you the details.

It all depends on her beliefs and the work she wants to do.

Never forget that nature walks are a great help when you are suffering from depression. Nature's rhythm is a great cure for anxiety.

I have very similar issues and I've always believed that it was do to me being too open empathically speaking. Her is what I was taught to do. Shielding definitely helps, but it's important to be able to distinguish between your own emotions and someone elses. I was told that anytime I start to feel depressed, angry, sad, anxious or even happy out of the blue to first stop whatever I'm doing (if possible at that time or ASAP) and meditate on the emotion. You want to determine whether the emotionis coming from you or somewhere else. The way you do that is ask yourself "do I have a reason to feel this way... did something happen that is making me feel this way?" If ultimately your answer is no, then you can assume the emotion is coming from somewhere else. Then it's a matter of learning to let it go consciously. It's not mine. I don't need it, so I'm releasing it.

I won't lie. This method isn't easy and takes a lot of practice, but unlike shielding, it helps you to still be able to feel what's around you and remain grounded in the real world. Crowds are a lot more difficult to handle. All those emotions coming at you at once can be overwhelming. I still have problems with crowds. If I'm with someone, though, I can usually turn my focus to that one person and sorta tune everyone else out.

Hope this helps.

For me this is a touchy subject because some people don't like to talk about their "abilities" and others are very open about it. For me, I am open about it and I've learned to control it. I'm a major empath. I've gone to funerals for people I've never even met and sat there bawling because I couldn't control the wave of emotions that were rushing over me. It was a very slow and difficult process. I knew about protection spells and shields, but unless you know how to form them around the waves of emotions coming at you, if you get into a large crowd all with the same emotions, shields don't work unless you know how to reinforce them.

I got into Vampyre studies and lived the ways of a Strigoi Vii Vampyre until recently. With learning these ways, I also learned how to channel the energies of people, especially the waves of emotion that they blasted me with. I was able to convert that emotion into energy. I never drank blood or needed to drink blood. I got the energy from the people. They emit plenty of energy that just dissipates. So I learned to absorb it. I've learned to use that energy to heal myself and heal others as well. So the abilities of an Empath are quite extensive besides just feeling others emotions.

General rule: don't trust any psychic seeking profit....the majority will be charlatan's...self respecting psychics tend to help freely or keep their abilities secret...

I'm empathic myself...most of the time it seems like I'm devoid of my own emotions...people tend to find me "distant"...I do this so my own emotions don't mix with and amplify the ambient emotions I pick up...I also have to keep away from groups of people to avoid being overwhelmed by external emotions...if I pass by anywhere a recent death has occurred I can feel the emptiness left behind...

I can even use it to "communicate" with some animals by relaying emotional intent

Hmmmm, I'm beginning to feel like "empath" is more or less synonymous with "codependent" based on what you are all telling me. People that are unaware of their own feelings and only those of others often exhibit codependent tendencies.

I'm very aware of my own feelings...I have to be in order to keep them reeled in...I live a relatively solitary life as I prefer to depend on only myself since experience has taught me to trust only myself...

Ohhhh OK! That makes it more understandable! Sorry if I offended you my friend, that was not my intention.

It's almost impossible to offend me....I say almost because I can't think of anything i'd find offensive. I'm good at letting things go...let it slide like water off a ducks back

And some empaths probably are codependent...
