How often do we use this phrase or it’s cousin, I’ll get to it eventually. As an avid procrastinator, and as I’m sure many of us are, we use this term often. Admittedly, sometimes it’s used for noble purposes: recovery, a balance between work and rest, because we need it. However, I warrant, the majority of the time, it is used for us to hold onto the lackluster comfort of doom-scrolling or marginal minutes of sleep. Maybe I’m telling on myself.

Friends, let’s call it what it is: complacency.

Recently, I realized what a bold statement if was “I’ll do it later.” Me. A product of the all-encompassing Force, and a citizen of the eternal now, thinks there will always be a future. As we know, this is not the case. For some of us, we have recognized words forever left unsaid, deeds never done, encouragement forever left bridled, and hope forever kept to ourselves. We never intended it to be that way. Maybe we perceived the timing and setting to be imperfect, maybe we took for granted that there would be a next time. The doctrine says ALL creation and renewal in the flow of the Force, ALL the WONDER and TERROR of its processes, arise and dissolve in eternity- the present moment, the now. You are here. The future and past exist because we think about it right. Now.

My challenge to you all is when you find yourself holding YOURSELF back from speaking to someone, or doing something for you or someone else. Take it as an opportunity to examine why. If the why is nonmaterial, “I’ll just do it later.” I encourage you to go ahead and send that text out, call that person, or whatever you need to do to avoid leaving things forever unsaid.
