I am sure this is serious. That statement coupled with the article creates a beautiful kind of Irony.

Yes but apparently if you wear a suit people accept what you're saying without question.

Run for your life from any man who tells you that money is evil. That sentence is the leper's bell of an approaching looter.

It reflects that "great Liberty" comes only by way of "great unity", not by elimination or subjugation of the 'undesired' elements ...

At the same time, "doing one's own thing" has to be healthy for the "one" we all are ... it is not just a case of doing whatever one wants to do. His illustration of the Farm is quite suiting.

It is my sincere hope that the generation now coming into its own has that flexibility that our generation lost sight of ... (we got sort of seduced by the 1980's)

What kind of society isn't structured on greed? The problem of social organization is how to set up an arrangement under which greed will do the least harm; capitalism is that kind of a system

Whatever. I pay my taxes and go to work every day. What do YOU do to contribute to society?

Oh yea? That's great.

It is also contrary to everything you have said about the "evils of society". About how deluded we are for working within a corrupt system.

What do I DO to contribute to society, all the same. Plus

I serve my community in my free time on a Search and rescue team.

I am trained as an EMT and life guard who has used that training to saves lives.

I supplement my food with my homegrown garden. I have 12 fruit trees. I garden organically.

Most importantly to this convo, i don't make hypocritical statements about how much of a tool someone is for aspiring to things withing the system.

Don't like the system? Fine, i don't care. But don't throw stones at people who work within it. When you are still a cog in the same machine.

I think its instead consumerism, and that greed is a particular form of it. So I think the idea is to have a system which meets our animal nature of consuming, with the human version of freedom... but with the least possibility of allowing greed. It's been shown many times I think that greed 'breaks' the relatively stable periods.

Nope, greed is what makes the world go round. If it wasn't for greed, nothing would get done at all.
