In the city during a disaster you need water and antibiotics. These become hard to get and most people don't have them. A leatherman sure is handy anytime. Light is useful.

Another thing I have been doing lately is playing around with making hobo stoves, wood gasifiers and rocket stoves. For efficient means of cooking with limited recourses. I know that is not a recipe, but it is a part of cooking!

I think my favorite right now is the rocket stove. Not as portable, but it seems to work better.

There are many things that can be eaten raw and they are great.
But, to clean water we need to boil it (as one method of making water safe to drink in a survival situation) and many foods our body can process better if they are cooked. Some foods we can’t eat unless they have been cooked so being able to cook becomes a necessity at some points. And if you are fortunate enough to have meat on your diet (for those that like meat) it is a very long process to dry it out without a means of cooking. But there are several things I will eat raw and they are great. You just have to know what you can and can’t eat, what it is and looks like and the safe food prep for it.

I like raw and rare meats. Never caught anything from it either.
