So, just a question ... out of no where really --

(sort of)

What can YOU make a 'musical instrument' out of ???

My most ingenious instrument was the design of using my breathing in rhythm and tones that only I could tell of internally. For auditions where I needed to practice without actually singing, this was most beneficial and creative a response.

Anything that vibrates at an audible pitch however briefly that sound may last. Perhaps? Play that thing in time. Then try and play 'out' off time. Then mix it up, :p I don't know, but from your question, it seemed very personal. Right now, off the top of my head, I think the sound of me typing the keyboard- lots of spaces and lots of backspace in some sort of 'time' and each button has a little different sound. spacebar, d and Backspace are my favourite from this discovery. d dd d d d d d d d d d d d d dd d d d d d d d d d d d d d d dd d dddddddddddddddddddd d. Guess what that sounded like, :p Twas fun, :) Thanks Alex, and Goodnight people or have a nice day wherever you are!

I have a really bad tendency to tap on desk and other surfaces with my fingers... and I don't just mean "tap tap tap tap tap"

The way I tap tends to be rather complex rhythms (including swift tom/bass drum rolls and the such) that could be compared to a marching snare drum at times, and a death metal drum solo at others. I use my right hand fingers for bass drums, and my left hand fingers for snare hits. With this method, I can write rather detailed drum rhythms without any drum set near me, and at the same time, working my fingers out for the guitar. ;)

The overture may be discordant, but the crescendo an affirmation of the soul.

Broken machinery actually can be an influence to music. i know my broken wash machine can make me think of amazing songs. But really i can make music out of anything i hear. tapping on desks. typing words on a key board. anything can give music. But maybe that is because i am a music nerd. :)

I can't believe I have to be the one to mention nature's most amusing musical instrument....the only one that not only makes music, but brings forth a tune that induces laughter.....the one, the only, the noxious butt trumpet :woohoo:

Now to be serious...fingers, hands, feet, nose, mouth, arm pits, back of the knee, it would take me way too long to list everything animate and inanimate that I've used...

There's a group(called stomp) that performs music using various objects...

Now I'm off to annoy my nephew with the butt trumpet

I would think anythings that helps you express/bring out the music inside you?

Stomp is a great example, very cool too.
