What is it about football that makes people go ape**** crazy?

classic case of the cycle of crime.

also with how seriously they take their football in that area of the world. reminds me of the columbian(?) player who got shot by an unknown assailant who was shouting 'gol!' with each shot. this was years ago, but you get the gist of it.

Why must there always be violence in football-related matters? Is crowd psychology and committing to an "ideal"/team as it were really justification for taking human lives and hating others just for standing for what they view as right?

(I'm a Rangers fan myself, yet my uncle Robert is a Celtic man and there is no animosity between us save for a few jokes on game day )

Seems like typical soccer hooliganism to me.....soccer (I refuse to call it football) is the only sport I've seen in which the fans are more dangerous than the sport....sure in the u.s. you once in a blue moon get some fans that flip over police cars and riot when their team wins the championship...but those occurrences are rare...even our soccer fans are more restrained....really I don't get what's so great about a bunch of male pixies prancing around with their hands flopping about while kicking a ball ...give me a real sport...rugby, hockey, football(american,the only real football)....

American football: a ball sport that is played with the hands. Makes perfect sense. (Also the gay version of rugby)

I never understand this level of fanatiscism. It is after all just a game.
