Every drug addict I've known was (as a baby) either breast fed, drank formula or milk.

Beerfest, The Hangover, Bad Santa, Strange Brew, any college comedy (like Animal House), the list is pretty long.

As for heroin, it's not as popular among the public so I'm not aware of any movies, but a lot of comedians use it in their comedy. Pulp Fiction, I think had heroin along side coke...but it really wasn't a comedy comedy. Although, Travolta and Jackson's conversation were a hoot!

I see that as more drunken fun, rather than alcoholism. I'm talking about drinking your wife away, having to get a job in Malaysia which results in carpal tunnel, then having a dead-end warehouse job upon returning to the USA which nearly puts you in a wheelchair. That's alcoholism. Alcoholism destroys lives. So does weed. Maybe we have something to learn from Malaysia when it comes to reminding the public that things are illegal. If/when my state legalizes weed, or if it is legalized at the federal level, I'm going back. I have seen what weed has done, the lives it ruins. Yes, there are more alcoholics than potheads. There are also more alcohol users than weed users, even if you omit the people who use both from the first and consider them part of the latter. Adjusted for numbers, weed ruins more lives.

List of Drug Films (Wikipedia)

Nearly all of those movies include alcohol consumption (in spite of missing the "alcohol" tag) and about half of them contain heroin use. I would also suggest that the majority of those movies are comedies (in my mind anyway).

But how many are comedies? Stoner films give off the idea that weed is benign, that it is not serious business, and that breaking the law in funny. I want to see a jolly heroin addict getting into all kinds of wacky misadventures.

You asked for alcoholic comedies (Bad Santa went to jail so it wasn't all fun).

As for stoner comedies like Half Baked and Harold and Kumar...well aren't those just "high" fun...like drunken fun?

As for weed ruining peoples lives, I don't know who you're seeing, but I know a LOT of potheads and they are all beneficial to society. Full time jobs, families, and pleasant to be around. Non of them are selling their cars to pay for weed or going hungry for it. Although, I have met some alcoholics and meth addicts where their lives were demolished.

The only people I've met where weed has been bad in their lives are the people who get popped for selling it. And it wasn't really the weed that ruined their lives, it was the law.

I don't know. When I hear people say they've seen people completely fall apart because of weed I have to raise an eyebrow. Maybe there were other factors involved in their downfall.

Ah ha the root has been revealed, negative experiences lead to negative perspectives...

As I've said I know tons of potheads, and none of their lives have been ruined...in fact my life sucks infinitely moreso than theirs do ...they have more money than me, newer cars, more friends, their own homes, wonderful families...

I have very little money, my car is 23 years old(but I like it) I can count my friends on one hand, I haven't had my own home in years, the majority of my family is an annoyance I can do without(and I do do without)

You're a crusader type, you've allowed your own negative experience to color your current perspective...it happened during prohibition...people with negative experiences allowed it to eat way at them, rather than looking to themselves and accepting blame they used transference to shift the blame from themselves to something else...the beer made me do it, the weed made me do it...no, you chose to do it...on the rare occasion I CHOOSE to drink I also CHOOSE to do so at home or someplace I intend to stay until the effects wear off....

As Br. John correctly pointed out, there is nothing illegal about marijuana use in Washington State (where I live), so it is not an issue of law. Although I don't smoke (anything), I support the right to use marijuana as well as the right to enjoy and laugh at stupid stoner comedies. Heroin is another issue, but I am still behind the decriminalization of drugs in general.

Don't go psychoanalyzing me. I was once a near-alcoholic. I was giving my example to show what constitutes alcoholism. I have seen what weed does, and it has no place outside of strictly controlled medical use.

How the hell should I know? Films are cultural Marxism, and I do not waste my time on them. Film directors should be caned and then helped to find real jobs. :)

I come from a family of alcoholics, I know full well what it can do...alcoholism is supposedly a hereditary addiction...if this was true then why am I not an alcoholic? Why aren't any of my siblings or cousins alcoholics?...all my aunts, uncles, grandparents, and parents were alcoholics...i faced constant physical, emotional, psychological abuse as a child...If anyone had a right to be negative and hateful it would be me, yet here I am holding to a fairly positive outlook, filled with understanding...
