Amanda Knox Question. was created by
So, I came across several articles that reported that the Italian Courts are attempting retry Amanda Knox.
For those of you who are not familiar with the case. Amanda was an American living in Italy. Her room mate was found murdered in their house. Originally Amanda and Her boyfriend were convicted and sentenced to something like 25 years in prison. When Amanda appealed her conviction In her appeal Amanda was acquitted and found not guilty. It was found that sloppy police work, botched forensics and evidence pointing to evidence was suppressed. Amanda was released after her acquittal and she returned to America.
Someone else admitted to and was convicted for the murder already
Now, the prosecutor in her case has appealed to their supreme court and her acquittal was dismissed and now they are seeking to retry her.
I mean, i understand that double jeopardy does not apply in their judicial process. But i mean really.. a retrial after acquittal.
I for one would caution Amanda not to return to Italy. While Italy will just prosecute her in absentia and Italy and the U.S. have an extradition treaty...
I find it very hard to believe that the American courts or the American government would allow her to be sent back to Italy to serve a sentence on a conviction that would be prohibited under American law's protection against double jeopardy.
Anyone have any personal opinion or knowledge that might shed some understanding to Amanda's chances of actually being extradited if she has a second conviction?

If she was acquitted, and someone else admitted to and was convicted for it, I don't think they have a case...it sounds like posturing by the lawyers that lost the conviction , trying to save face....
If it was up to me, i'd tell them to stuff it...it was proven they screwed up, someone else admitted to it and was subsequently convicted for it...case closed, get out of my court or I'll lock you up for wasting my time...
