Balance of course and avoid setreems.
Like ice cream, french fries and all fatty foods. They make you feel good and too much of a good thing....
Oh I have got to say this, I've just got to...
It's the Ying and the Yang thing. It's always about the Ying and the Yang.

i think what i really want to advocate is the idea of finding
and making effective
methods of self governance and self esteem which do not require external substances
beyond those of an essentially healthy diet
i acknowledge that there are certain exceptions
but in general
looking for external solutions to internal challenges has a way of backfiring
in my personal experience
People are complicated.

The use of an intoxicant, such as wine, cannot only be thought of as self-medication. Their occasional use can be religious and celebratory. Like a naturally induced trance state, intoxication, as one form of an altered state of consciousness, can have religious purposes and intentions.
Controlled substances can be used for exclusively escapist reasons, to dull emotional pain or to forget, whereas, the disciplined use of some consciousness changing substances as a practice within a religious community and as part of a ceremony can enhance one's experience of the numinous.
Outside of their religious purposes, intoxicants should be appreciated in moderation.

I got nothing out of it. Just like adding cream to my coffee. No big deal. It's just a cup of coffee.
