this is interesting and and my response is not exacly in alignment with the article but it fits the title of the thread lol

one of the first things you find in the book "tales of power" is a poem on the inside cover called "the conditions of a solitary bird" by san juan de la cruz from his "sayings of light and love"

the conditions of a solitary bird are five;
the first; that it flies to the highest point.
the second; that it does not suffer for company, not even of its own kind.
the third; that it aims its beak to the skies.
the fourth; that it has no definite color.
the fith; that it sings, very softly.

throughout the books of that series the idea again and again recurs that one must become self sustained and comfortable with being alone

this is not that one has to isolate oneself but rather that we learn to be comfortable without the validation or even encouragement of others

especially the idea is to keep a sort of psychic barrier between the self and the foolishness of peoples expectations and demands which we can easily be pulled in to of we're not deliberate in our behavior

so thats what the thread reminded me of!

People are complicated.
