I'm not sure if this is appropriate or in the right section but I have nowhere else to turn.

I am angry. Most of the time. It's the little things that get to me. I have tried books, counsellors and other mediums that don't help me at all. I suffered from a brain trauma a few years ago when I was viciously beaten by a group of thugs and since then my anger and emotions tend to spiral out of control sometimes and those I love are suffering for it. Is there anything anyone here cam suggest or do with me, not for me. I wouldn't ask if I haven't already tried and tried on my own.

If this isn't appropriate or what you want on the forums I understand, I just really want help with this issue.

Thank you all, and be well.

Hello Bear Mutin!

I happened to read your post about anger and I'm truly sorry to hear you're going through some difficulties in your life. I won't pretend to have "The answer" for you that will help you but just know that anger doesn't really do us much good in the grand scheme of things. If you meditate, which I suggest you do, you should meditate on what's hurting you. If it's a person try and forgive them. This can be very tough but I promise you it's better to forgive than to hold onto anger. If you're in a bad situation, try looking at it from a new perspective. Sometimes this can help. I'm just a beginner of Jediism and there are so many great knights and other wise people in this Temple who can help you much better than I can. I would definitely recommend meditation though, if you haven't already tried it. It really does help with things such as this. Also, envision your anger as if you're holding onto a burning hot stone. It hurts you, better to let go of the stone. :)

I hope this helps. :)

Bear,

The bad news is that there is no quick fix for PTSD; actually there is no real fix, just ways to learn to deal with it.

The good news is that you've come to the right place! The right people and answers will come to you if you open your heart to them; the Force has a way of putting the right people together at the right time!

I wish I had some advice for you, other than listen to those that offer to help. PTSD is the area I wish to focus on after I am accepted into the Seminary, but until I get further into it, I could not give you qualified advice.

Hang in there buddy,

May The Force Be With You!

Rick D.

Hi Bear,

I'm sorry that the experience you had has had such an intensely negative affect on you. Firstly, please bear in mind that while we are here to help, the majority of people here are not trained or qualified to deal with those sorts of issues but they do have a wealth of personal experience that may be able to contribute to a solution for you.

That said, there are vastly differing forms of counseling. Therapists that deal with trauma or grief don't always have the training or experience to help people find long term solutions to emotional imbalances, and sadly what works for one person may not work for another. Have you worked with anyone that offered Cognitive behavioral therapy or NLP? I would imagine that due to the brain trauma, you've had tests done to clear you of any physiological reasons for the issue?

Please feel free to PM me if youd like to talk.

Edit - There are also evidence based treatments for the resolution of PTSD.

Bear Mutin,

I don't know the extent of what's troubling you but I went through similar things over the past few years (20's now). Anger is such a huge weight to carry, it is a hard cycle to break. As others have mentioned above, meditation should help you to let go of those bothersome thoughts (at least to keep them in check).

But to give my two cents, what helped me the most was staying in the moment. Whenever I get upset, or overwhelmed, it's usually because I'm 'tripping' over the future. I project my thoughts in what could happen instead of remaining centered in the now.

Remember friend, the time will pass anyway, so try not to worry so much about the whos or whats. These feelings will pass for you, I know because time has a funny way of making once burdensome things easier. Hey bud if you ever need to reach out drop me a pm, I'm not the most active but I'm here to help.

May the force be with you

Well firstly i would like to say well done for realizing your issues and for making an attempt to address them. Half the battle is the realization that you have a problem and now you can do your best to move on. I was once also viciously attacked by a group of thugs and it took me a long time before i could even leave the house again for fear.
It took me a long time to heal and meditation was the key in my healing. Fear cripples us and meditation helped me address those fears and come to a state of forgiveness.
I truly hope that you can overcome this and i'm sure with support and training you will be able to find peace and let go of your anger. Its so hard i know but the tough stuff is usually the most rewarding in the long term. I wish you every success and im certain you will have no shortage of support at the temple.
May the Force be with you.
