Sit comfortably (no need to sit with a straight back, but you should sit upright - allowing your heart to open and the breath to flow freely).
Breath in an out - let go of the thoughts that are nagging you, clearing your mind. Repeat a few times.
now insert the following into your mind:
"I want to be one with the Force." Repeat a few times.
Take a few moments and think about times in your life when it was beneficial to be one with the Force.
now replace your stream of thoughts with the following words:
"May the Force be with me."
"May I be well"
"May I find peace"
repeat for as long as you like. If other thoughts enter your stream of consciousness, gently let them pass.
Now start extending your consciousness outward. There may be people in your surroundings - listen to the noises that arise around you. Do you hear a road? An airplane? Think of the people - and think about how you'd like the Force to be with them, too.
insert the following words into your consciousness:
"May the Force be with them"
"May they be well"
"May they find peace"
repeat as often as you like
after a while, become aware of your immediate surroundings. Feel your seat, the floor, your room - and gently allow your eyes to open.
Do not look for happiness outside yourself. The awakened seek happiness inside.

Loving kindness / metta meditation is one of the topics suggested by the Buddha to be included in ones meditation practice. There's nothing esoteric to it: it's simply a conditioning of the mind to develop a healthy attitude towards others (including that of respect, acceptance, non-discrimination and general well-wishing). This is fundamentally compatible with the Jedi belief system. As for me, wishing others that the Force may be with them encompasses all of this, I've decided to create a form of the mantra that includes this wording.
The meditation in itself is very short - anyone can do it in 5 minutes, it can be done anywhere and I find it easy to do, even for a beginner like me. It's also easy to change the wording to your own personal belief system and / or needs.
The meditation can also be focussed on specific people - if, for example, there's that co-worker you dislike but would like to develop a more positive attitude toward, just think about that person instead of people in general.
The reason why you focus on yourself first is based in the belief that before you can develop a more positive attitude towards others, you need to have positive attitude towards yourself.

I've added this for the last section of my evening meditation for the past few days.
Will follow up at some point with update

I do the same thing - I have a gong set to five minutes before the end and reserve that time for this meditation. I also sometimes use it at the office because you can relax while doing it (no need to keep your back straight etc.) and I find it has a poistive effect on my mood.
