Why not just learn first aid and proper swimming? It's really not that hard.

Obviously, each person will javeca reason for why or why not...

But, cost of continual recertification (first aid and CPR), of both money and time, for something I may never use...

Therefore, reminders suchbl as these, keep the procedure somewhat fresh in my mind...

And, to someone scared of doing more damage than good, so would do nothing, this shows that there are things that you can do to help... And that the training, if one is inclined, isnt all that scary...:)

As to the swimming, it takes practice to be proficient enough to be able to save someone... I can barely swim... Barely... lolol...

The important thing is to act, not just stand there, wondering how to help...:)

Yes, very good skills to know.

Aren't these skills required learning on other Jedi sites? I seem to remember a prominent Temple guest of ours touting the merits of these practical skills and desiring TOTJO to adopt them

Yes, you read it right...

It is definetly a suggestion for folks to learn these skills to further be able to help their fellow human, but we do not require it (at this time)...:)

I did both the swimming and the first aid as a kid. The expenses (monetary or else) are minor compared to the benefits. One of the first things (as in: most important) I learned in first aid class, was how to contact the authorities and give them as much, most useful information the quickest way possible. (and in a way that doesn't alarm a victim)... Because most people who try to be helpful actually fail that simple task...

Yeah you could learn all that in a first aid course and swimming course. You could learn it in boy scouts. You could learn it in 30 minutes watching a few youtube videos or reading something online. Practice with a partner to get hands-on experience. I think certification is a fear-based thing where someone is making money off your fear. Sort of like insurance.

Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts.

@LTK.... Yes, there are still people who font know that...

Whyte Horse, Ren, I too learned it as a child, both in swimming lessons and in scouts... And for the 12 years I worked for the phone company, I was recertified, or or refreshed every year....

But not in ten years...

I keep saying I'll get around to it, promises from my employer, yada-yada...

All of these little reminders help jog the memory...:)
