I stumbled upon it by accident...growing up I was constantly told our family history ,i was always skeptical of most of it only to find out over the years that it was all true...I do know that the templars are part of the freemasons, and I only know that because I met one when I was a cable technician and spent a good amount of time talking with him in his home library, in the end I had a fair understanding of them.

Yeah all of my family that served prior to me either retired or died in battle...then my parents generation (the hippy generation) had no one that served, then I serve and get court martialed becoming the new blacksheep of the family  my cousin served as an mp, and my nephew served as infantry before his discharge...

Ah, I heard rumors of Templars and the Freemasons, but again I did not know if it was fact or fiction. Cable tech? Another thing we have in common apparently. When you say cable, are you talking as linesman cable (Power lines and such) or the cable installation I used to do? (Working with companys such as Charter and Mediacom. Running RG 6 Coax etc. Hooking up internet and cable television services?)

Ah, the reasoning for my discharge simply was due to all of the cut back that the military is going through. What branch of the service were you? I was army, as was my father.

I was navy, my cousin and nephew were army, as was my grandfather, my stepdads father was navy...my genetic father went in the army and no one saw him again...

Be thankful that you are out of cable(if you are). The company I was with was making us replace all 59 cable and re-running the whole entire dwelling, or we would fail the QC.

Ah. I see. Most of my family was Army. However my grandfather on my mothers side is retired USAF, I do have several cousins and uncles who served in the Navy. Oddly though, no marines.

Yeah we had to replace all 59 as well.....hated it,some of that crap was hard to remove...had to come up with creative ways of running wire, the only time I ever failed a qc was if I was called in to finish someone else's job, and it was always their work that caused the fail but I'd get back charged for it...the worst being a driveway bore someone started and left...they tore up the whole front yard and I had to resod it

I don't think I had anyone in the airforce or marines...I joined the navy because it had the best benefits, and the seals...I took the nuclear technician exam and only failed by 2 points...the first time I did the seals entrance test I failed the 500meter swim but passed everything else...so I spent time learning how to swim using the frogkick and passed the swim test, but got into trouble, court martialed, spent time in max security, then got the boot...which of course negated all the benefits that drew me in :(

The strain of service is huge at times. I am currently still serving in the Navy. Getting ready to wrap up 30 years and transition. That is going to be a strain and a shock. I have never been home for any real length of time. I will have to actually learn to live with my family.

I was adding it up and I have been deployed 19 years of those 30 years, geographical bachelor, meaning stationed away from my family, for 6 years. That does not include the long hours of work ups and getting ready to go stuff. And it does not include the middle of the night we need you here for a few weeks or for schools/training exercises.

The good thing is that things have changed over the years. Mail call is not as important any more. Skype, email, phones available to talk from almost anywhere make the separation and strain a little easier.

The Seal test is now called Physical Standards Test or PST and is required for any special program now. EOD, SWCC, Aircrew and Seals. That swim is a beast if you do not have the strokes down. I always found the combat side stroke the easiest and fastest way to get through it.

*.* Coffeeeeeee. Lol- I'm coming off of watch and straight into the work day- I didn't get enough sleep last night, lol.

My rank was dropped from E4 to E3 because if the way the Coast Guard does stuff. You can't get 4 until you pass your rate school. So now I'm just waiting on that while I qualify. Fortunately I'll get that school sooner than most others in my basic will- but not because of my prior service. The rate I want is hurting so they are willing to waive wait times. We'll see what happens :).

I'm assuming that is CQ duty, but for the Navy/Coast Guard? Though in either instances, coffee sounds like it'll cure what ails you.

Rate school? Is that similar to AIT(Advanced Individual Training) - aka Job school. If so that is very odd the coast guard does things that way. There were plenty of E4's going through AIT with me back in the day.

Rating/school is like MOS. It is the job scope you are assigned. For example I am an explosives disposal/weapons specialist.
