Pathfinder (D&D) Tabletop Campaign

So Undreamer and Goken reminded me that I had wanted to do this a while back before I moved.

I'm looking to run a Pathfinder campaign (based on the Dungeon and Dragons 3.0/3.5 ruleset). Open to anyone who thinks they can steadily make the games! (I by no means am looking for perfect attendance) Willing to teach new players who are interested in playing!

This is a campaign that I built and have run twice but it's still growing. I love the RP (role play) and story aspect of the game so there will be a good balance between RP and combat. There will be a few limits on character creation, but if you can fit your story into mine, I'm pretty much good with it!

This is the intro that I have written including the character creation rules in the end (Let me know if you can't see it, I hope I have the right link!) It's a brief history of the area and set-up for the campaign.

Land of the River Vair Player Intro

I want to run the games once a week on Saturday or Sunday. Normally I like shorter sessions (up to 2 hrs), but some games can run a LITTLE longer depending on the story or players. We can work out a time once I see who is interested and when they can make it. We will play the game on roll20.net (rolls will be done on the website so dice are not needed)and if you do not have Pathfinder books http://www.d20pfsrd.com/ or http://paizo.com/prd/ has full references.

Once we get a group together, I will work on character creation with you if you need the help, or send me your character sheet for me to go over (I'll do this on an individual basis over e-mail, text or voice chat, PM, or however is easiest). I'm looking for four or six players. Countries will be chosen on a first-come first-served kind of basis (I need half of the players to be one side and half for the other). I have HeroLabs that I can use to generate pretty characters sheets for you to use if you'd like (or if you have an iPad they have an app that will display the sheets). I will want to see or hear at least a basic character back story!

If you have any questions please feel free to ask here or PM me!

I've been wanting to play for a while.

EDIT: I've played 3.5 and 4.0 but I'm not sure what Pathfinder is (I remember someone I had played with before was hosting a Pathfinder campaign, but I had no idea what it was or anything like that).

Take a look at the document when you have a moment and see if you're interested!

The story I heard is when D&D started straying from what some thought it should be, they broke off and made Pathfinder. Rules are slightly different but it's all based off of 3.0 and 3.5. Some people say that it's MUCH more balanced. I know the Paladin class is much more fun to play in Pathfinder. I like using it because it's more available than the old D&D books (and you don't need seven of them to run a good campaign! LOL) So if you're use to 3.5 you'll feel at home with Pathfinder in no time :D I'm not a rule beater anyways unless a PC is about to die (and then we'll stop to try and find rules to save the PC)

So you're a nice DM? I'm used to DMs who take pride in ending the campaign with a TPK.

I have only had one experience playing a D&D session but it was really fun. I'll not spoil your game if you think a total newb would slow everything down and be no fun. But if not, I'm in!

I'm all about having fun! My goal in my campaigns is for me lose by the skin of my teeth. BUT if a player is being a dummy at the wrong moment, death can happen XD I've never ran a campaign that ended in a TPK lol.

I love new players! Partly because I love teaching and partly because they always have something new to bring to the table! You'd be more than welcome :D I'm very patient and can get the basic rules explained before we start the campaign and questions are welcome during the game too!

Take a look at the link and PM me with any questions or ideas for your character!

Online through roll20.net It's like Skype but has dice rolling capabilities, maps, tiles, 'miniatures', music.... Has some pretty cool capabilities. I looked into it a little bit but haven't ran a campaign on it yet so it'll be an experiment.

As these type games are very "hero adventure-esqe", I hope that the quandaries and difficult decisions are discussed sidebar (think, what would a Jedi do? what would a Dark Jedi do, what would a [fictional] Sith do)...

and for those of us who dont know how to play, lol...

I love discussion on life, but, really have life issues that would prevent me from playing a game...

On walk-about...

Sith ain't Evil...
Jedi ain't Saints....

Or how about "What Would Jestor Do?" :woohoo:

The reason I ask for character history from the players is because I love watching characters grow. My favorite book stories have always involved character growth and I try to offer that in my campaigns. Sometimes for the better, sometimes not. In one campaign I ran I watched a very sweet and shy diplomatic character become hell-bent on revenge so much that it overtook every part of what she did. I also have seen a heavily racist character come to find that you don't have to be shaped a specific way in order to be 'human'. I think the biggest mind-blower I saw in a campaign was when two characters (one by his own will, one not) tried to kill another player's character. And watching the rest of the players trying to figure out what to do!

My favorite parts of the game are when a player stops and has to really think about what their character would do in a situation where what their character might do deviates from what they themselves might do. I love offering those choices whenever I can. Gets people thinking and involved! It's group story telling!! :D So players get to 'live' these "what would ___ do?" during the course of the campaign. Eeee I haven't played in a while and I'm getting excited to run this again :D :D

Do you want us to start creating a character or hold off until you've got the number of people you're looking for?

You can start working on character if you'd like! Both countries have available slots at the moment so feel free to grab either!

Oh! And if you want to start on your sheet, stats are rolled 4 D6, re-roll 1s, drop the lowest die, arrange in stats as desired after all are rolled. Two traits (optional) and take a look at the flaws, I've never ran them before but I'm thinking of giving them a try.

If you want to wait until we can both get on a chat program to make your character that's fine too, you can always start ideas on a character and back story!

Also a good reference is on an Android device, "Masterwork Tools: Pathfinder Open Reference"

You may want to look at the below web site. Some of my old gamer friends have been trying to get me to run some games for them since we cannot get together in person any more. I have not tried it yet, but it looks like a decent spot to do this.

I am an old player/GM had my own game store since 2001 and am familiar with almost every genre of game and style. I just have not been able to coordinate time to play like I used to.
