Here's a pencil sketch of what was meant to be Ben Kenobi from the original Star wars. His face hasn't come out as well as I wanted but it bares some kind of resemblance, if only a small amount.

I'm loving the shadows you have going on in these sketches, along with the texture of the robes. The glow of the lightsaber also works very well, I wish I could do that.
I'm decent with figures and faces, but I stink at shadowing. lol

I find the hard thing with shading in shadow is trying to keep the light source(s) coming from the right angles. I keep wanting to put shadow where there doesn't need to be any.
My trick for doing shadow is to do all the really dark shadow lightly first so it's just tones of light grey, then add pressure to deepen the shade. Once all the really dark shadow looks right I start to spread outwards.
