You may be somewhat familiar with it if you’ve studied communication, provided or been in any counseling or self help groups, or studied behavioral psychology, though you may not have heard of it in those terms.

Emotional intelligence has been defined as “the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically.” by the Oxford Dictionary. Having said that, being aware of what people do and why is not carte blanche to manipulate them. Emotional Intelligence is not so much about accomplishing your goals as it is about facilitating the communication that can increase the bond that we share with each other and the earth.
