I wanted to start a forum, to talk about the books, novels, and comics of the Star Wars Universe. I am a huge fan of the films, as you can tell, but having read all of the novels, has helped me see the whole perspective. I think there are some great novels in the series, Labyrinth of Evil, I, Jedi, and any Legacy of the Force novel.

These can help a few padawans, knights, and even masters. Also, this can be used as kind of a book review page. If you would like to make a comment, ask a question, or know what books to read, post em! I will gladly help, and some of you can help me I'm sure.

Sounds interesting. Who wrote these novels and with what background information?

Do these stories follow the Star Wars Saga or are they pre-runners?

Vector Prime was the first EU book that I read, and I was very distressed when Chewbacca died. Even more when Anakin Solo died.

Darth Caedus is a pretty cool concept. Making Han and Leia's son a sith lord was a neat twist. I hope he has to square off with Ben!

Thanks for making this a topic. I thought we might get some enlightenment out of my hobby.

ok, i'm glad i'm not the only one who was not all smiles and giggles about it. And yes, the loss Ani Solo was hard. But really, a sith Lord? although, Han's kids are brats so i'm not to shocked about it honestly.

FInally, a forum and others who have as much passion for the novels as I do. I actually cried when Chewie died, I know its surprising, but I actually felt like I lost a friend too. I haven't read the novel yet where Ani Solo dies, but I'm getting there, I know its in Star by Star, don't worry, you guys didn't ruin it for me. Personally I can't think of a better person in the novels to become the newest Sith Lord than Jacen Solo. On top of it all, he's doing it for all the right reasons. I've heard the comment that the \"road to Hell is paved with good intentions\" Its kind of where I see it going. I pose this question to you though, do you think he'll be killed in the end, or redeemed? You know good will triumph in the end, but which way is the true question. I don't think he'll square off with Ben, it seems that would be too easy for him, he'd crush Ben. Jacen is almost as good with a lightsaber as Luke is supposed to be, but younger. I personally think it will be with Jaina his sister, the \"Sword of the Jedi\". I believe thats what that little prophecy is leading too. I haven't read the newest one yet, INFERNO I think it is, so please don't ruin any details of that one. I should be getting it soon.

As far as good books to read for actual learning value, I agree with the ones already stated by KeiranHalcyon. Especially \"I, Jedi\" another good one that I feel is a great learning experience, which I totally didn't expect was \"Path of Darkness\" the story of Darth Bane and how he came to the rule of two and such. I have not read all of them, by anymeans, but I'm trying, since they keep coming out with them its hard to make headway.

All of these books follow the saga, there are some good ones that are prequal, obviously \"Path of Darkness\" is a prequal to pretty much all the other books and the movies.

Perris, what did you expect of Solo kids, look at Han. Sure they have the Skywalker genes as well, but they aren't exactly little angels either, so you put the two together and you get hellyuns!

INFERNO, doesn't come out til next week sometime. I think that the confrontation with Jaina would be a good thing. Ben is maturing, when he finds out what happened to his mother, either he is gonna flip, and kill Jacen, or he will become like Luke. Jacen still wants Ben as his apprentice, so we'll just have to see what turns out.

Jaina has been cut out of the storyline somewhat. That's disappointing, she was great in the Vong war.

Path of Destruction is awesome. I can't wait for the sequel!

They are making a sequel to \"Path of Destruction\"? Maybe there is a God! (Just kidding Tom, it's not that easy to change my mind) Wow, this is such great news, I can't wait. I have also been disappointed with the content of the series so far on the part of sort of leaving Jaina out. She has been involved but not too much, which is why I think it'll be her, besides they need to use that prophecy somehow, and with her being seemingly idle, she'd be perfect. I do actually think somehow Ben will become his apprentice atleast for a while, but for the sole reason of gaining enough power to exact revenge for his mothers death. At this point I just don't think Ben is strong enough to confront Jacen and win. If its not Jaina, it'll be Luke who finally confronts Jacen. I don't think any of the other Jedi will be able to stand up to him power and ability wise, according to what has been addressed so far in the story line, not to mention many of them feel they should be doing more for the GA as well. I'm still curious to find out who Luke will be fighting for in this war, the GA or the new Rebellion. I think thats supposed to be addressed in INFERNO, which I was told was supposed to come out on the 17th ish. Either way I should get it soon. I don't think they'll find out what actually happened to Mira Jade Skywalker in this novel, probably like the next to last one is when they will find out the truth on that matter. These are all just speculations of course, I have no inside information, just my own theories.

Personally, I hope that Luke and Jacen have it out, and Jacen leaves ol' Luke lying and dying on the floor in some backwater cantina. That's just my personal wishes for the series, because the old heros are exactly that, old, well, except for Han, he's the man after all. Just tired of reading about the same characters over and over and over again, that, and I don't really like Luke Skywalker. But, as for the Ben part, I don't think that he'll be like either Luke, or Jacen, I think he's going to go do his own thing, and that HE is the one that is actually meant to be a Sith Lord, and the whole deal with Jacen is to just get him started down that path, though neither he nor Jacen truly understands that just yet.

I lean more towards Darth Bane. He was the original after all, and was extremely powerful. Nihilus was only strong sporadically. He was at his most powerful after he had killed. Palpatine was strong in the Force, but was consumed by his own greed, and lust for power. Trusting in Vader was his downfall.

yeah Bane is one of the best Sith, but i think that Nihilus is the best cuz he could devour planets. but Palpatine most powerfull Force power was Force Storm (wormhole).

His very speech caused pain and death to all who heard it

\"During the time of the Emperor's return, I, too, went over to the dark side. I did so for a variety of reasons, some of which seemed to make sense at the time, and many of which still cause me difficulty. What I experienced then has given me an understanding of the dark side which is vital to fight it. More importantly, the love of my sister and my friends drew me back. It redeemed me. Even the most foul victim of the dark side can be redeemed. By turning their backs on evil, Brakiss and Kam have already begun their journey into the light. I want to help them complete that journey.\"

I also like the part before this, when he explained how love saved him. It was Leia's love for Luke that turned him from the darkside. And it was a son's love for his father that saved Vader.

I made it through INFERNO in about 2 days, and it was awesome. There are some cliff hangers, and if you are like me, you might have even been in despair after the biggest one.

All in all, it wasn't one of the best, but the book had some great action, and Luke Skywalker is a BAD ASS!!!
