Prayer Request by Maruk

This was sent to me via the Help ticket system so I'm posting the request here.

\"Friends, my oldest son has cerebral palsy and several others health issues. He went into surgery yesterday to repair a nissen (?) and to repair something else. Long story short, there were some complications. Your prayers for Thomas would be greatly appreciated.\"

I understand your worries Brother, my daughter has Cerebral Palsy and has has surgry as well, Thomas is in my prayers, thoughts and meditations.

Thank you all! Thomas is now in ICU and he is stable. His mom and I take turns staying with him over night. The hospital is about 1 1/2 hours one way from our home. I will keep you posted on his recovery.

Thomas is still in ICU, his condition is improving. He continues to make small steps of progress.

Thomas hs been in the hospital since Jan 10th. and in ICU since Jan 12th. Friday Thomas crashed with infection in his blood and lungs. One lung collapsed and was re-inflated. They have also found two fluid pockets in his chest. They are going in today to drain the fluid. Thomas is stable and he is fighting to regain the ground he lost.

I will be at the hospital all this week, so I will be away from the Order.

This is serious news Br.Maruk. My 3 year old daughter is due next week for a major operation and I can appreciate your predicament. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. MTFBWY.

I am heading out the door to spend the week with Thomas at the Childrens hospital. Friday (02-08) he went into surgery and they were able to get a drain to the second pocket of fluid. (first pocket was pretty easy) Even the surgens were unsure how they were going to get to the fluid. When they got Thomas back to his room they had already drained 500 cc's of infected puce. They got another 200 cc's by that night. Everyone is very hopefull that Thomas will now be able to get well!

It seems as though this never ends, yet here I am again with another up date on my son Thomas. Friday (02-22-08) the doctors tried to replace the feeding tube they had put in on (01-10-08) with a feeding tube he could go home with. During this effort there were problems and the track was punctured that goes to the stomach.

The new feeding tube was inserted and went into the puncture site. Fortunately the doctors took Thomas into x-ray and after injecting contrast discovered the contrast was not going into the stomach but into the chest cavety.

Thomas was rushed into surgery for a two hour repair. He still remains in ICU, He is doing better, but we have lost some ground on where he was last week. He is still on a ventalator for all of his breathing. He had worked his way to being off the vent during the day and on the vent at night.

Thomas is an amazing person and he has made me a much better person by being in my life. No matter what happens to us, I will never regret having a disabled son and friend.

Dear friends,

Well, after 68 days at Doernbecher Childrens Hospital, Thomas came HOME today!!!!!!!!!!

He has some new challenges for us to face, but we get to face them at home. We will be having follow up visits every week in Portland.

Thank you again for all of your thoughts prays these past few months.
