Visions

Perhaps I am a Jedi Seer,
although to me this isn't clear.
But I put my
visions
into rhyme,
at times oblique,
sometimes sublime.
Sometimes
the visions
do come true,
maybe offer
what we must do.
Sometimes
they come to naught
and hold some things
that should not be taught.
Other things
that I have seen
may yet
be those
that have
yet to be.

Of course
there are those
that think
me the fool,
that I never
see the truth.
But although
we may feel
a certain way,
the truth remains
like a bright blue day.

The Moon

The stars about the lovely moon
Fade back and vanish very soon,
When, round and full, her silver face
Swims into sight, and lights all space

Black Ink

The swimming swirl of
Lines
Curving inwards
Shapes that shifting join

Vetiver scent, leads
South
And far, far west
Over oceans you wait

Smouldering wood, burnt
Black
Wet leaves pile as
Futures pull closer

Eclipse

One glimpse blinding, turning slowly
Gently shift each other's axis
Share totality's alignment
We will merge and flood the sky

You are like the heavens to me
Full of strange and distant wonder
I will fill my heart with silver
Radiate a golden light

Diamond ring as birds fall silent
Every feathered heartbeat stops
And the moment stretches, timeless, endless
Lost

The wide earth has become smaller
From our sudden cosmic distance
Though it's newly filled with wonder
Sometimes shadows fall at night

But there's promise in that blackness
Like the vastness of the cosmos
Mirroring, magnetic, driving
Perfect in each other's eyes.

Follow Your Dreams

If while pursuing distant dreams
Your bright hopes turn to gray,
Don't wait for reassuring words
Or hands to lead the way.

For seldom will you find a soul
With dreams the same as yours.
Not often will another help you
Pass through untried doors.

If inner forces urge you
To take a course unknown,
Be ready to go all the way,
Yes, all the way alone.

That's not to say you shouldn't
Draw lessons from the best;
Just don't depend on lauding words
To spur you on your quest.

Find confidence within your heart
And let it be your guide.
Strive ever harder toward your dreams.
And they won't be denied

Satellite

Out above the pier last night
A single cloud flew past in silence
Lit by moonlight, and below I learnt
There is no need to try

The sea that stretches outward
Ever redefines its borders
Without effort, just the push and pull
Of gliding silver light

Silent satellite, we’re dancing
Know, maintain the perfect distance
And in time, your labours ended
Fall back into my arms.

Sunset

Overhead the birds meet sunset
Ephemeral silhouettes in flight
I’m sorry I can’t be as they are
Light as air and free to fly.

Every glint reflecting daylight
Life I lived for twelve dead years
And what can that mean anymore?
And more, what do you feel and fear?

So out across that endless sea
I watch, and wait, and pace the shore
The pain, it also comes in waves
Lurching, rolling back once more.

Night falls, I swim into darkness
My sole hope to find you there
An island, in this shifting silence
A final, fatal breath of air.

I create this darkness
I have allowed these tears
When faced with these decisions
I summon my own fears

Bound by my own creation
Held in the chains I link
When I grow sick of fighting
I allow myself to sink

Then broken bits of anger
Mask a deeper rooted pain
Only I can stop it
But I give in again

The Quest

Tell me that you'd like to be,
a druid, knight or perhaps a seer.
Something maybe that will steer us clear
of the darkness of our fears.
And if a knight or bard you be,
on a quest you must leave.
To find the Temple in a dream,
that can set the world free,
free of the dark one's plans,
perhaps it can be found
in a sunken land.
Or perhaps on another plane,
where eternal lights never fade.

I cannot tell you more than this,
as quests demand the most of lists,
lists of men and women, too,
guided by the rules of virtue.
So this perhaps is the greatest clue
to show you what you must do.

This is a song I wrote for my new music project - Every Day's A Battle (EDAB). I thought this was the most appropriate place to post it.
My Dear Tormentor
This shit is over
You can’t contain us
We’re going to destroy
This world that hates us

You’re Day of Judgment
So goddamn delicious
My wrath is coming
It will be vicious

(Chorus)

Oh do you see,
These things you do to me
Aren’t out of compulsitivity

One more time and we’ll break you down
One more time and we’ll beat you around
You beat me up, and I’ll beat you down
Fuck this shit I ain’t kidding around

(End Chorus)

Bloodied and broken
upon the ground you lay
I must ask, are you proud?
The beast you created has awoken!

So now I’ve killed you
My dear tormentor
The world won’t miss you
Now walk through hells door!

(Chorus x2)

Oh do you see,
These things you do to me
Aren’t out of compulsitivity

One more time and we’ll break you down
One more time and we’ll beat you around
You beat me up, and I’ll beat you down
Fuck this shit I ain’t kidding around

(End Chorus)

I'll post some old poetry here, I guess. It's spoken word, so it won't have the same impact as when it's recited.

Also, I don't agree with the entirety of the message or with way I expressed what I was feeling at that time.

A Dream Within a Dream
Edgar Allan Poe

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow-
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand-
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep- while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?

Here are three poems by American poet Trumbull Stickney, 1874 - 1903. "Dramatic Fragment" was written shortly before he died of a brain tumor.

Six O'Clock

NOW burst above the city's cold twilight
The piercing whistles and the tower-clocks:
For day is done. Along the frozen docks
The workmen set their ragged shirts aright.
Thro' factory doors a stream of dingy light
Follows the scrimmage as it quickly flocks
To hut and home among the snow's gray blocks.--
I love you, human labourers. Good-night!
Good-night to all the blackened arms that ache!
Good-night to every sick and sweated brow,
To the poor girl that strength and love forsake,
To the poor boy who can no more! I vow
The victim soon shall shudder at the stake
And fall in blood: we bring him even now.

Be Still. The Hanging Gardens Were a Dream

BE still. The Hanging Gardens were a dream
That over Persian roses flew to kiss
The curled lashes of Semiramis.
Troy never was, nor green Skamander stream.
Provence and Troubadour are merest lies.
The glorious hair of Venice was a beam
Made within Titian's eye. The sunsets seem,
The world is very old and nothing is.
Be still. Thou foolish thing, thou canst not wake,
Nor thy tears wedge thy soldered lids apart,
But patter in the darkness of thy heart.
Thy brain is plagued. Thou art a frighted owl
Blind with the light of life thou'ldst not forsake,
And Error loves and nourishes thy soul.

---

Dramatic Fragment

Sir, say no more.
Within me 't is as if
The green and climbing eyesight of a cat
Crawled near my mind's poor birds.

Joy - Gavin Bantock

And Paradise does come

Paradise comes like a breeze and like a breeze
drifts elsewhere than where we are at the time

and we have no way of following the wind
to the world's end.

Fortune's waters see the shore
And pushing forward, forward more
The sand builds up and washes away;
The sun sets, rises, and brightens day.

In drama's play the weave is true
As actors unravel act and clue;
The curtain rises, falls and parts,
Once and again the old tale starts.

The muses' image colours frame
The painting of an artist's fame;
Dye washes out in water's clear,
As does anger, passion, love and fear.

"Evil is always possible. And goodness is eternally difficult."

Why I Keep Living

It's funny how when you look back,
the pieces of the puzzle fit

when at the time things seemed off track,
and you could barely handle it.

Life is crazy, messy, short
and sometimes we don't recognize

that all the joy we ever need,
is sitting right before our eyes.

A gentle kiss from one's sweet love,
a walk through autumn's leaves

we dream of heaven up above,
we could have it here, if we'd believe.

The greatest joy in life you see,
is love from those you care about.

A joy that is completely free,
but one I could not do without.

Remember what to focus on,
when next you reminisce

all that matters when you're gone,
is by whom you will be missed.

This World Full of Lies

I'm all by myself,
in this world full of lies

I've tried for so long,
not a soul hears my cries

Those that know are in denial,
of the harsh truth at hand

The rest of society,
too dim to understand

No matter where I look,
the dark is still there

It hurts me to watch,
yet I sit and I stare

I'm labeled an outcast,
my ideas far too strange

But is it a crime,
to want things to change

The world is so vicious,
so mean and so cruel

And I feel all alone,
surrounded by fools

I thought that at last,
I had found my own light

In this world full of hatred,
depression and fright

She seemed like an angel,
so perfect and pure

Our time was quite near,
of this I was sure

Then straight out of nowhere,
corruption took hold

Now my angel has fallen,
and I'm left feeling cold

I'm all by myself,
in this world full of lies

Where the heroes are villains,
in thinly veiled disguise

So now it's in my hands,
to fix what's not right

I'll come from the darkness,
and bring us to the light

Feel, Smile, Love Again
Walking forward,
getting nowhere,
always looking back

Here I stand,
in a world of light,
the epitome of black

the further down,
this road I go,
the more I realize

the only way,
to free myself,
is to cut off all my ties

each separated bond ,
it seems,
is a cut straight to the skin

I fight,
but have to wonder,
is this a fight that I can win?

When all is done,
the scars are left,
to prove my pain is real

and though the past,
can't be erased,
I've at last begun to feel
