In 2001 I thought it would be a great joke to write 'Jedi' down as my religion on the Census form. Now that it actually IS my religion I wonder what will happen next time...

It depends where you live in the world - I believe the UK have adopted the policy of counting it along the lines of pagan - or spiritual.

If there is a box for 'other' - its probably best to put that tbh - putting jedi wont do you any harm in anyway - you wont have a sith knocking on your door (or any empire employee) but you do run the risk (again depending on your country) of being misrepresented

Another option is to write a foot note along the lines of saying your a member of e legally recognised jedi temple (under US - Texas law) and still put Jedi on the form - ie add some weight to your claim.

There was talk of taking legal action against people who put Jedi as their faith in the next UK census - I sincerely hope this is the case

Im happy to go to court over this - make the system look stupid ;)

I dont see any issue with people saying they believe in Garfield if thats what they want - whats the difference between 'none' or 'other' or whatever?

The easy solution all round is for the state to mind their own business and not ask about faith at all

Just the humble thoughts of a UK citizen and JEDI

I was thinking of putting down \"Jediism (Temple of the Jedi Order)\" on the form. Which is more info than the standard \"Jedi\", possibly making them think more?

Master Kana, if there's UK legal action, I will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you! Especially if it makes people consider things more deeply.

Speaking for myself, I find it amusing that they can put the major religions there by name and lump the rest together.

So does that mean if I'm not, white, black, mexican, asian, etc. (forgive me if I'm not PC, no offence meant) that my race is of little significance?

Why is religion asked? I don't have a problem answering, but, does the government give money to churches? Like they give money to my local government for roads and infrastructure repair?

On walk-about...

Sith ain't Evil...
Jedi ain't Saints....
