Seeing as my wedding is coming up very soon, I was wondering if anyone had any advice on creating a lightsaber so I can wear it at my wedding. Like someone said on this site when I first joined, \"christians wear crosses, jedi wear lightsabers\". Any help anyone coud give me would help a lot. Thank you.

Before getting useful help with this we need to know where your from, whilst that google article is good, its almost useless for this in the UK as getting the parts is almost impossible and becoming harder in the USA too.
To be honest, whilst the heiland/graflex look good, there are alternatives and the easiest is to work from a metal sink waste pipe and build up from there,
It also depends if you want electronics in there as well so you can use a polycarbonate blade with high power led etc or if you want a straight and relatively simple 'hilt' only arrangement.
If you really must have a luke look alike sabre, you can now get master fx sabres here in the UK for £35 but the blade is fixed permanently and the blade isnt very strong but it is possible to convert these too

the big yellow box is awesome. There are a nuber of ways to make one. my first best advice is go to the local hardware store with your thinking cap on and see what looks good and what you can butcher to make what you like.
there are also a nuber of great saber smiths out there, and they do good work.
First i'd get hwat you want in mind, then decide what you want it to do, then go from there.

do a search of this site as well as the net in general for sabers... you'll get ideas, for both what you like and what you dont, its amazing how helpful it is to see what you dont like the look of... sounds mad, but those with experience in this will know what i mean.
for first time home build saber, id personally suggest aiming for a simple hilt that sits on a shelf n looks good, ie no electronics or duelling ability etc, as the latter requires more planning and better/stronger materials and construction methods, even the force fx jobs are not really upto the rough n tumble of duelling (not safely anyway) and whilst the hilts on those are nice, the blade is a permanent fixture, so if you like them and are sure you dont want to use the blade on it, you could pick one up cheap brand new or even a brken one on ebay for very little (broken as in not all the lights in the blade work any more and it has dead/black areas on the blade)
When you get ideas given too you, others pop into your head, as Stevef said, inspiration is found simply by browsing a hardware store. Here is another one, 3 D-Cell Maglite torches (flashlight to you from the USA) are ideal for hilts
especially the silver or black ones
anyway, good luck and have fun

good idea Brother, Mag-lites are awesome for sabers. I would reccomend the plumbing department at the hardware store, the faucet knobs make great pommels, and the faucet itself makes a great emitter. and also the shelf handle section has some grovy things, and the best place to make a hook on the end like Dooku. vaccume tubing makes great grips, as do wipers.

Click Me
Link to Ceremonial Lightsabres on this forum, it may give you some ideas for plans, which reminds me, i ought to post my recent forceFX luke conversion (although not 100% complete yet)
anyway hope it all goes well, as steve said, the draw handles can be used to great effect, i lile the bronze ones round draw knobs, the weight also helps balance the hilt out if your using it for duelling (which is partly why the pommels were/are used on swords)
