I agree, Equilibrium was an excellent movie as well. Since The Dark Knight has opened, I have been in conversations where I was able to bring this movie up. I hope people get to see it.

Although I understand your point of view, I must humbly disagree. Before I saw the movie, I qas hopeful that it would live up to the buzz... but had a healthy skeptisism as well. As I watched the film, I was happy to see that skeptisism be completely vanquished.
Although it isn't my all-time favorite film... that may be, as I don't know the average age of the forum, that I have lived longer to see more films than others.
However, I thought it was a magnificent film.
The action of the film, the unexpected twists and turns, the technology, the story itself, and the actors performances were spectacular.
I truly hope that Heath Ledger will recieve an academy award for this film... not because he is no longer with us... but because he deserves to. His acting skills are beyond expectation... and I can't remember a scarier villian in recent history, such an intense perfomance, or the magnitude of the character developement on the actors part.
I also disagree that Heath Ledger will be so easily forgotten. The Joker, in all his scariness to much to describe, will remain in the human psyche for years to come of all who see it. I believe it will become to be known as a legendary performance.
Also, his performance in Brokeback Mountain, which I found also to be beyond compare, will live on as well.
And although it does not have the prestige as the other two, A knights Tale is such a feel-good film that it may very well have the longevity of The Princess Bride.

I am an Avid Fan of The Comics, and of Films like this, and I must say, no one has ever portrayed The Joker better in any medium. sorry Mark, not even you (Mark Hamill voiced The Joker on Batman: The Animated Series) tops this. and Christian Bale plays the Best Batman I've ever seen. The Inclusion of two-face in the movie surprised me as well, I didn't expect to see such a great telling of his origin. this is one of those rare superhero movies that goes beyond the realm of summer blockbuster, this is a work of art. The Joker's grim twisted anarchist point of view is perfectly flaunted, his clever sick \"jokes\" he scares you and makes you laugh at him at the same. he is more trickster archetype than Loki himself

I have just seen the movie myself today, and must admit that I think it is the best out of all the Batman movies that have come out. I enjoyed Micheal Keaton as Batman, but will say that Christian Bale is the better Batman. This is one comic book to movie that has not been screwed up by hollywood and look forward to others in the future.
