Jediism Books

Good morning all,

I'm collecting a list of books and people's opinions about them.

I'd love to ask you all what books on Jediism have you seen, and which ones spoke to you the most?

If you've written a book, I'd love to hear about it as well!

Nerd to Knight is an interesting anecdotal journey, a good springboard into what Jediism/Jedi Realism is, but Jared's claims are to be taken with a grain of salt

The Jedi Circle or Tier one is similar to the IP in that it is an introductory course for the Jedi Academy (Opie's site), Its more practical as opposed to academic/book learning like our IP

Meditation for Jedi Realists (I think that's the title) Its a year long journal on the Art of meditation from a Jedi's perspective. Ally has pretty extensive knowledge on the different types of basic, non-affilitated, meditations...but for me it was hard to put in the one year after a while because it gets repetative

The Great Jedi Holocron is an interesting reference book from 2006 and before. It's long, but its also dated. An analogous book would be any of the yearly sermon books in the library. Another effort was undertaken in 2014 or 15 called the Jedi Compass and I think our very own Neaj Pa Bol has some entries there

I've read Become the Force by Daniel Jones and Jediism Explained by Opie McCloud. Personally the one that spoke the most to me was Jediism Explained because, and this is most likely because Opie views it as a philosophy more so than Jones's view of it as a religion, it felt more practical. Jones's seemed more spiritual in tone where as Opie's was more of a "how do I use this in my life". I still liked both and recommend them, but for me Opie's was more my style as it were. And his YT channel is what really got me into Jediism as a whole and has helped me so much the past year.

I can't comment on these, because I'm HIGHLY bias. But here's a list of workbooks-

"Spiritual Art of Meditation" by Alethea Thompson (this has a shortened version of the first half of the book Meditation Journal for Force Realists in the first module [the longest module in the whole book])

The first book i would recommentd is ;

Your First Step Into a Larger World by L. Christopher Bird

A lovely introduction to the Jedi way . I was touched by how genuine and effective the guidelines were written. Someone that has never ever heard of Star Wars or being a real life Jedi can benefit from his knowledge and it invites further research. I even think that very dissappointed Jedi that have had horrible experiences can read this book as a reminder of what we are standing for.

Another thing worth reading is a paper a student in Leiden , Netherlands wrote on how the Jedi way became such a popular religion.
