Hi!

Due to multiple members expressing a certain nostalgia regarding the older theme of TOTJO, I'd like to bring this up for formal discussion.

To those who run the back-side of the site: Ren, Proteus, etc., is it possible to make the site look differently than it does now?

To those who remember the older site: Do you want to have it change back to the brownish color we once had, or do you want something else, or is it just fine how it is now?

To those who are newer than the older site: Do you like the way the site looks now? Or, do you want something different.

Keep in mind, ren may tell us that we have no choice but to use what we have now. And, we may have to live with it. But, since I heard at least five people remark on the subject, I thought that maybe people have real thoughts.

There is a real consequence to color scheme. The Earthy tones of the previous site were conducive to making me feel calmer and more grounded. I oftentimes feel the original B/W and this B/W/Blue site gives off a sterile atmosphere... If it were my choice, I'd head back to TOTJO circa 2013.

What say ye!? :)

Aboot time this ball got a'rolling,eh? ;)

I would love the old earthy tones back. It was what attracted me to this site of the many others. Felt more professional, and also soooo much more calming. I like the layout of this site, but the colours are a bit harsh and, as you said Connor, sterile.

As I understand it, the motivation for the upgrade to this new site was due to security. It wasn't done arbitrarily. We needed the new version of the software to stay ahead of hackers. This meant everything was reset to the basic settings, and it takes hours of digging through code to put everything back to the way it was before. I don't know if changing a color scheme is possible on this new platform or not, but if it is, I know it is a much bigger undertaking than many people think it is. I'm sure Ren can elaborate, but he's been busy just getting this site back to functioning the way the old one did. The asthetics will come later.

*nods* And, so I've heard, Senan. I am aware of the reasons of the changes. And, of course, I would be remiss if I didn't thank Ren for his ever-present service to the site.

This discussion isn't so much a measure of saying "Let's do it NOW!" but, rather to get a feel for what the membership's opinion is on the future of the aesthetic look of the site. So, that if Ren does get around to it, he knows what to do. Like I said in my opening post, he might tell us that we're stuck with this for the fore-seeable future.

I liked the browns. They were comforting.

I disliked that particular brown colour immensely, but the white makes this site feel very sterile.

It won't let me have a blank signature ...

Do you NOT like Aqua (the person) around here or there, that you had to make the distinction?
