alternatives to Facebook?

Do you have any recommendations on alternatives to Facebook?

I find it interesting that FB is targeting Jedi oriented accounts and names. They chose to remove my page for me. This is a social media site. This is for my own use. Why does FB feel it has the need to control how people express themselves or name themselves.

Do you know of anyone else that had their Jedi FB page removed by FB?

For this reason, I would like to find a more socially acceptable and friendly place to connect with people.

What do you think?

Google+ has no limitations on what name you use... you can go by any name you decide, which is the complete opposite to Facebook's current policy. May make Google+ an alternative if you don't want to use your 'real' name.

Disclaimer: technically, I still have a FB account but I'm rarely on it; I'm very close to deleting it though I like to see the stuff my wife posts so I keep it...for now, haha.

I'll second Ello. The people running it are not allowing advertising, are advocates of user privacy, and don't sell your data.

Baru, if you want to contact other Jedi, encourage Gathered Force Community. It is very similar to FB and it is made for Jedi. By Jedi.
