Student journalist looking to talk to some Jedis

Hello!

My name is Kierran, and I am a student journalist based in Washington DC.

I'm working on a short radio piece about Jediism, and I wanted to reach out to see if anyone would like to talk to me about it. My piece is about how the Jedi community is preparing for the new influx of Star Wars fans. I know this community has worked hard to differentiate itself from the movies. I want to see what feelings exist about the new movie and a new generation of fans, some of whom might be interested in joining this community.

I also want to hear your stories. How did you find Jediism? What drew you to it? What does it mean to you day to day?

Jamie is indeed correct that you should contact Akkarin who will be happy to help you. He is in the U.K., so there is a substantial time difference to account for, but he is usually very good about responding.

As for me, I'm excited to hear of your interest in the community, particularly for a radio piece. I work in radio myself (CBS Radio in So Cal), so I love that students like yourself are still pursuing it.

Thank you so much for replying! I actually have reached out to him, and hopefully I will be able to interview him.

However, I'm also interested in talking to someone who isn't in any kind of leadership position, but is more of a typical member of the Jedi community. I'd be happy to talk to either or both of you about your stories. Would you still be interested?

I'm at work right now so regretfully I can't give you my full attention until later, but if you want to send along some questions, I'll do my best to answer them.

You might also want to check out THIS THREAD from a while back. Someone else was researching to write a paper on Jediism and a few of us responded with answers. It could get you started.

I'm afraid I can't help you there. I may be an apprentice and have the lowest rank among clergy, but I'm also a part of the Synod which is our administrative body that make decisions over the clergy.
