Jedi Badges (?)

I had an unusual thought. I remembered an incident when I was at the dentist's office, and I saw a girl crying, trying to reach someone on her cell, obviously in pain. I would have offered to help, except someone already had, and she angrily refused it.

So I thought, what if I could have identified myself as someone who could help. Police have badges that they whip out to show they are trustworthy and have a person's best intentions in mind. I kind of laughed as it occurred to me that it would be nice to have a badge of my own that identified me as a Jedi, and that I genuinely wanted to help.

I know it sounds kind of silly, but I know there are those who have Jedi tattoos, necklaces, rings, or some other Jedi ID. I found a website that does custom badges: http://www.firestoreonline.com/smithandwarren-custom-badge-S511.aspx .

Just an idea I thought I'd throw out there

Out of site of the general membership, we are discussing this right now...

We have, at different times in the past, offered ID cards, I happen to have one when Mark Anjuu was taking care of this...

Right now, we are working on certificates (which I need to go check the thread, lol) and discussing ID cards...

Terrible as this might seem, but I dont think we should just offer them to just any member, but rather members who have gone through background checks for certain situations... If you catch my drift...

Most of us are fine, upstanding people... And it is not us I worry about...

It is the "ne'er do well" who might use it to lull someone into a false sense of security...

Like my job of processing apps, and whatever else I whine about, that job too can become pretty demanding...

So, there are bugs to be worked out...

No offence intended but if, before joining the Temple, someone whipped out a card and said "It's alright, I'm a Jedi" I'd have been anything but comforted...

This may sound dumb, but I'm known in (several of)my social group(s) as a Jedi and am often used as a sounding board for personal problems.

If you mean random people on the street who need help...well...just help.

I still have one of those id's jestor mentioned...it's expired of course, but it's still displayed prominently in the license window of my wallet..it getsseen quite regularly...

As jestor mentioned there are options being explored and discussed "backstage"...

But seriously, I don't think I need anything to show I'm Jedi and here to help.... Anymore than someone would say "I'm Catholic, you can tell me anything..."

I'd really like a Badge or an ID of some kind. I could keep it next to my KISS Army membership card(s).

Joking aside I wear a TOTJO button on my jacket, my (brown) hoody and the bag I use for work... if conversations start, they start. I also have the conventional "winged saber" as a sticker in the back window of my car. I wear the same symbol on a chain around my neck... I plan to get the same thing tattooed after my Knighting on Friday.

But a card still seems a bit too far for me

Gratz, tzb. I too plan on having the Temples star tattooed once(and if) I become a knight.

on the lightsaber part, though, it IS universally recognized to mean "Jedi"...just sayin...
