What is the best course of action when you would like to pursue conversation with a person(s) but cannot think of anything meaningful to instigate said conversation with?

I start with "hi", and then make an excuse...

I say "Don't I know you from somewhere?" and just start naming places.

occassionally i go for polite, disarming bluntness, like 'hi, i couldnt help but notice how attractive you are and it would be really cool if we could get a drink or something sometime.'

tip 1 - be cool and funny
tip 2 - be attractive
tip 3 - dont be unattractive

ask how they are, show an interest, say hello, works for me :laugh:

A person you're attracted to?

Not a sexual attraction, but yes. Someone who has caught your interest and you would like to have more experiences with them, but given the lack of said experience one is not quite sure how to go about it without displaying offensive traits to the person in question.
