I do not understand how celebrating someone being born with more rights and privileges than everyone else is in any way appropriate, especially at a time when the disabled are losing their basic benefits.

I understand your position completely, but at the same time, should we not hold out hope that a new royal born bring's a more positive outlook to a country that is depressed at the minute, and among the revellers, surely even the slightest Joy brought forth from any celebrations is a positive vibration and will have a positive impact on the overall outlook of the country.

I'll admit, I have been somewhat glued to the news (even if, yesterday, it mostly consisted of watching reporters standing around commenting on how they had absolutely nothing to report on  )
What is interesting is that it's been headline news all across the world. Everyone else seems a bit jealous of our Wills and Kate (and Baby)...

Somebody was born. I'd celebrate that if it affected me directly. This child's birth has and will affect the entire UK and world. Perfect reason for us to all celebrate together.
I certainly hope it won't. last time one of them got shot, it caused world war one. Although at least it had the effect of bringing democracy or universal suffrage to countries that never had it, including the UK (1918) and possibly the US (1920).

I believe this type of news is a ploy to divert us from the real problems of the world. It gives the morons in office a breather for a couple of days before those of us with some wit call these dumba#%# out again.
OH, congratulations and best wishes of course, but get over yourselves!
