The interview of Huffinton post with Br. John was very insightful and interesting, anyway I think that even considering that Patrick's interventions were accurate and interesting too, I identify some features of his personality that seem odd and estranged. That makes me thinks that if they choose him to represent them, they may be odder. My intention is ton to judge him, he seems to know his stuff and to have clear ideas about what he and his comrades want, anyway i think that is a good opportunity to make a self critic and judge ourselves.
I will point 2 features but remember this is not about Patrick but about us and if we having similar reactions.
1. Not watching straight to the camera, this is a common feature of people that has few public interaction.
2. Emotionless attitude with few gestures, when you communicate something you do it with all your senses and body, not just language.
Now remember that this is an online community and that allow us to interact with people we don't know, actually the forum allow us to have asynchronous communication. The Temple of the Jedi Order is a community, a social network that help us to understand the force and to focus our abilities to use it in benefit of the better, but as any online social network can become an obsession and isolate us from the external world.
Remember reality is based on what we think and do, so we could be limiting our ability to interact with a broader reality.
This has not to be bad in nature, but it is important for us a Jedi to have a broader view of the world, to interact virtually and physically with everyone to understand and transmit the will of the force easily.
We all have family, friends, neighbors, school and work mates and the is a reach source of understanding of the force in each of us, not only on the online community.
It is important to have online interaction and participation but is as important as interacting with the outer world.
We must find opportunities to express in public, to give speeches and to establish our ideas in an ordered way to be understandable by others so we can share our ideas, feed from other's ideas and grow our understanding of the universe and increment our ability to use the force and to fight for justice, peace and share wisdom.
Not everyone has the same people skills but as Jedi are in touch with the Living Force flowing through and around us, this a great way to train ourselves.

I can share that in different stages of my life i have been attached to different forums, social networks, games or computer applications, and now i realize this was contrary to the temple doctrine " Jedi must let go of obsessive attachment, both material and personal."
Many times it was more important for me to play some games or tweet, even to work after hours, than to expend quality time with my friends and family.

Equilibrium is important in life and the "on-line" - "off-line" life equilibrium is not and exception.

This is just my opinion, but whet is yours?

PS. I am not inferring in any way that Patrick is a misfit, i don't know him and wouldn't have enough information to say so and even if I have I would not have any authority to judge him. I am just using some features of what saw about his personality to criticize myself and share this with you.

Friends and family can be just as much an obsessive attachment. I think it's all about having control of yourself. know what you need and how your own mind works. You will have a craving for friends and family relations. You will also have a craving for other forms of entertainment. A craving for a meaningful job. A craving for sitting outside, perhaps have a drink, and do nothing for a few hours even though you're not tired. All those things you need for your own good. i think what's important is the "obsession" part, which imo isn't just strictly about obsession. It's easy to turn the xbox on and spend hours on the sofa staring at a television set. What's important is to remain in control of yourself, and not fall in the trap of addiction, and of what is essentially fear to do anything. (perhaps not fear in the commonly understood way, but a form of fear nonetheless)

regarding Patrick I honestly think he was tired (he lives in the UK, it was quite late: 1 or 2 am I think?). Also he was probably wasted.

I agree that balance is key. It's easy to go overboard and miss the world around you. However, I see a lot of posts about how to go out and live on TOTJO so I'm not really worried. Meditating outside, the guy who posted his street dancing, martial arts, Emergency First Response, etc. I guess the key is to go out and do it. :)

Thank you for the reminder, Pcoronaf. :)

And I really like that bit about fear, ren. I think that's a good catch.

I'm considering this for the IP:
"Feel the fear and do it anyway" by susan jeffers.

Part of the message is hidden for the guests. Please log in or register to see it.

Not our regular kind of IP material, and I'm not sure where to put it... (for now "bonus" in personal tools)

I haven't read the book yet, but have been at this for a couple of months now.

Thank you, ren ! :)

The téléchargement is terminated, so I'll read it this week.

Totally agree with Ren, the issue is all about to have an equilibrium.

I have always been considered a misfit, the issue is not to be considered one, just to, as Ren said, be in control of our selves, not letting the "Machine to decide the need and want".

Let us train ourselves to be better in very aspect of The Force.

Misfit and proud....who wants to fit in with a herd of sheeple....everyone is different and should embrace their uniqueness not seek to transform it into conformity...

I have no addictions nor attachments...I do as I feel compelled to and regret nothing...
