Here is a very short video that ABC did concerning the health benefits of Qi Gong and Tai Chi. Being a practitioner of both myself, I can vouch for the veracity of this.

EDIT: I seem to be unable to insert the video in as I have seen in other threads. Click the link and it should still work.

VIDEO LINK

Nope, I couldn't get it either. Perhaps if you can find a different link to it? But I did "link" it for anyone wanting to check it out.

Neigong

There are some similarities, not really the same sort of system.

Qigong is more focused on active exercises resembling yoga and tai-chi.

Qigong is more concerned with moving energy around the body.

Qigong works only with yang chi, whereas true neigong works with both yin and yang chi with the goal being to fuse the two together as one.

Neigong is more concerned with capturing and storing and concentrating energy, and fusing yin and yang, not circulating it.

Neigong is more focused on profoundly deep forms of meditation unlike any other practice I am aware of.

Spring forest qigong is a good system to start with though if qigong interests you.

I'm still learning but I was given a Spring Forest book a couple of months ago. I couldnt get into it at the time because it seemed too autobiographical and not technical enough for me - I shall reengage it over xmas.

I did a (different) book review the other day in my journal Jestor. It talks about some of that.
