I was wondering if anyone in the temple knew anything helpful for pain relief. My mother suffers from degenerative bone disease and type 3 kidney disease. The doctors tell her to exercise but she's in too much pain to. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way she could help with her pain so she could exercise without the pain. Note she is on something called lyrica I think is how it is spelled. Other then that nothing. Her pain had gotten to the point she can no longer legally walk a straight line. Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated in this.

If you are in a medical marijuana state that does wonders. I have seen people get off stuff like morphene and switch to just "special gummies" and its done wonders!

Sure, do the work of the research to be sure but I have seen to many positive results from the switch to not recommend it. I know lyrica is very addictive and side effects can be bad so its always good to get off that stuff if you can. Just my 2C. lol

We just checked into getting some gummies and she has agreed to try them. So thank you so much for the help.

I'd maybe suggest asking a pharmacist/her primary care provider rather than unqualified (to the point that they can't spell morphine) anonymous people on the internet

Her doctor has point blank said there is nothing else she can do that's why I'm asking here to be honest.

That is a good idea and I would also include people that cant use proper punctuation as the end of their sentences.

They used to give Lyrica to my cat as a sedative..... probably wouldn't help with the walking, and avoiding falls so vital to osteo sufferers who can get disproportionate damage from tumbles. Is it a referred pain?

I'd suggest asking her doctor why or getting a second professional opinion. I'm pretty sure HIPAA makes it so you can get a hold your own medical records if you want to try and be better informed of whatever conditions made the current doctor unwilling to prescribe anything else.

We find her doctor saying this thing of not being able to give anything disturbing since her medication provider gave her a list of medications for pain that could be taken. Even her med provider is wondering what is going on with her medical provider.

I'd bet the farm that Lyrica is limited by kidney function and would interact with most other pain killers. Just look up the drugs and conditions affecting your mom and check them for possible interactions before letting her take anything.
Even something as asinine as weed can synergize with her current conditions and medications. Please don't be gung ho in a field that takes shy of 10 years to become a professional

A sad thing with Pain Management, from the years I was a Practicing Nurse until I got taken out of Nursing due to an injury in the ER from a patient is the fear or refusal to prescribe, that Doctors have in treating Pain. The FDA protocols are getting stricter due to the Uses of overprescribed meds and Marijuana gained not through the Issued Drug Cards, outside purchasing and misuse. The Pain Med epidemic really is not a joke; due to Doctors in the past just handing the Meds out when it was not needed for some items and not dealing with the long term effects that help in created the addictions. I deal with Pain Management due to Pinched Nerves in C3-5, Cervical Spondylosis and others that go into that list... Med cards for Marijuana is a way to help, there is also CBD ointment/Lotion, etc., with or without THC (the active ingredient in Marijuana), Check your States guidelines. I use NON-THC because I don't want to mess up my management.

Best Recommendation is this, if after the gummies are not effective, First, Look into the Insurance, state aid, etc., as to whether or not you have a Case Manager or the such. IF she has a Case Manager, talk with them about asking for an evaluation with a Pain Management group... IF not, ask the Doctor to refer you to one. Diabetics do suffer a lot of times with neurogenic pain.

Please don't do the ER gambit... Unfortunately, the New Protocols from later 2017 and earlier years, the reporting of Narcotic meds, how much, etc. Doctors call it pill chasing and you do not want to go that direction. They will not prescribe.

Sometimes you just have to keep on asking for help from your Doctor or requesting a specialist.

Most cases yes... Most insurances have to have a referral. That’s why I suggested a Case Worker, if there is one, some insurances have them some don’t. Cover all your bases... Don’t be afraid to keep asking your doctor if there’s not much done. One thing that also helps is write down time, date and what is happening, I.e.: unsteady gate (not walking a straight line), unable to stand without difficulties, and so on. Having that is a tangible item the doctor can see and not listening to what’s being said. And copy it to keep for yourself in case you do get a specialist, etc.

Seems a lot but it covers what’s going on...

She doesn't have a case worker sadly enough according to the state she doesn't qualify for one.
