Anxiety
I was wondering if any of you have any tips for tackling anxiety. Most mornings I wake up with a knot of dread in the pit of my stomach, and it makes it hard for me to do the most basic things in my life (get a full night's sleep, get up, get dressed, go to work). There are some underlying historic reasons for my anxiety which I'm working on, but are there any techniques or methods you've found helpful?
By anxiety I mean that feeling of being on edge and "fight-or-flight" about nothing in particular, including waking in the night feeling wound up.
If you've had anxiety in the past and beat it, what was it that allowed you to move on?
Thanks for any input

Also... I've discovered that green tea, hot, is amazing at putting me into a more mentally calm state of awareness and focus.

Perhaps you suffer from a mild attention deficit ?, stimulants are generally prescribed to calm this condition, I have a friend who's child has ADHD, she forgot her meds one day when they were away from home and gave her a shot of espresso, it worked for a shorter amount of time than the drug, but it still worked.

I used to wake with a feeling that I almost died, it took me a while to figure it out but it turns out I suffer from sleep apnoea and this was what was contributing to my anxiety.
I've never bothered with a cpap or a medical sleep study, I found cutting down on the smoking and breathing exercises during meditation have helped me with it.
Perhaps it is something like this that is causing your panic ?? hope it helps.

I actually have been diagnosed with ADHD, and stimulants generally do have a more sedative affect on me. It's kinda weird, but meh... it works!

Does anyone in you family have anxiety problems. It runs in my family and I find physical activity (it doesn't have to be vigorous and sweaty, helps rebalance my emotional state.
A little exercise, yoga, Qi Gong, walking, situps, pushups, stretching, anything you can do in a small space, sets the day off right for me...after I've had my cup of coffee.
Good luck.

Green Tea

and
Each morning when I awake I say THANK YOU. It is a prayer of non-resistence,for me.
Also, each morning, before formal meditation and green tea or a splash of coffee in hot water,
I sit on the edge of my bed and ask myself,
what is the purpose of this day?
what am I responsible for today?
I find that this too is a form of meditation (focused thought) and it is helpful to go beyond feelings that may be disconcerting in the morning.

O yah, don't smoke any rope or drink much alcohol. While they may give you some tempory relief it will make the anxiety worse.

good advice on high CBD though, I do agree personally with medical useage if the person really finds it's the only thing that helps. (that's not the view of the temple though I'm speaking from my own opinions here).
Perhaps try edibles or a tincture rather than smoking however just to see how you get on.
