I just read this article, and while quite a few pertain specifically to Buddhism, which I have been delving into, I replaced several words mentally with the word "Jedi" or even "decent human being"....

What do you think?

I think that that 100% applies to EVERYONE, in pretty much any situation. The internet is full of "experts" just waiting to force their opinions on people.

I find number 1 to be especially an issue online everywhere, but I do like the list.

It won't let me have a blank signature ...

itseems to me that the current thinking among bloggers is that wit is shown through sarcasm and wisdom is demonstrated by criticism

i think the same amount of work could have produced an article titled "how to set a great online example of xyz"

but i wonder if anyone would read it

People are complicated.

Pander to the crowd. I read that the Dalai Lama believes that if a woman were to be the next DL, she would need to be attractive. You must work for people to listen to you. Negatives resound more with people. Baby steps are required.

idk, "pander".... lol...

I read that too...

Who would the average person listen too? Im not referring to we who strive to look beneath the surface, but the "superficial" (asleep?) people?

A clean looking man, or a dirty unkempt man?

An attractive woman, or a less attractive women?

The Dalia Lama doesn't say anything different than any of us, the message we are trying to spread, I mean...

The packaging is extremely important to people. That's what I'm saying.

how much of that is because the people with the intelligence and influence to change it choose instead to continue playing along?

ive heard people say that janis joplin was not attractive enough to be successful in todays music industry and i think "we really cant afford to lose the next janis joplin in exchange for the next fergie"

and this is not even to criticize fergie: she is presenting the image that sells and though i disagree, i also understand

and my mind latches to the idea that it doesnt matter who listens - that saying what ought to be said is more important being listened to

and i believe there actually is a market for people who offer positive, insightful, HONEST commentary - even if they arent dressed up in glitter and flashing lights

and to be perfectly honest, i really dont think i would trust a dalai lama that i wanted to bill clinton with

(although i guess that depends on what your definition of "bill clinton" is)

People are complicated.
