- After reading the poem, I believe that it is more about guiding a child through a journey of personal growth to transition as an adult. Throughout the poem Kipling repeats which then culminates at the end by saying at the end that if you can do all of these then the earth will be yours.

- That's exactly what it was- He didn't kill all of the Sand People in general, but he did kill the entirety of that particular band that had custody of his mother. his rage was not only that she'd been taken by them, but that they'd been so abusive and neglectful of her well-being that he showed up...

- Thank you for this post. I couldn't have said it better myself. It may sound corny but I try to live by WWJD? Would be hate , shame, or persecute? He would love, teach, guide even if he didn't agree. " Go in peace and sin no more".
