We have just started a new year…
And already 25% percent of people have failed on their New Year's Resolutions.
It will increase to about 50% by the end of the month…
And the year will end with 90% - 92% of people who will have failed.
I get it.
I’ve been there.
Many times over the years, I have failed in my goals.
As a Jedi, I had goals to become a Knight much faster than I ended up.
I joined the Temple in 2016…
Wanted to become a Knight within a year…
Failed.
Disappeared.
Came back.
Failed again.
Disappeared.
Then, in 2022…
Six years later…
I came back again.
But this time was different.
In exactly nine months…
I finished my IP and was offered my apprenticeship with Master Zantham Storm.
What changed between the first two times and the third time?
Intentionality.
I became very intentional about my actions and growth in my spiritual path.
I dedicated time to working on studies.
I focused on making progress.
I did the work.
Now, does that mean that I have been perfect since?
No.
During my apprenticeship, there was a certain lesson that I had…
One that I struggled with.
When the struggle hit…
I lost my focus.
And it took me a bit of time to get intentional again.
But, I figured it out…
And became a Knight.
Does that mean that I have this nailed down?
No.
I have found myself again in a position where I got pulled in different directions in my life…
And I lost focus.
Chaos, Yet Harmony.
Focus. Knowledge. Wisdom.
Living in balance with The Force is the core value of a Jedi.
These are different parts of our Doctrine.
Things that we all struggle with as humans…
Certainly, I do.
The change we desire only happens with intentionality…
But we will not be perfect.
Sometimes we will lose focus.
Sometimes chaos will come into our lives.
Sometimes we must seek to rebalance with The Force.
As Jedi…
It is not about being perfect on these matters.
It is about recognizing when we fall short in these areas of our lives…
It is about learning from them…
Growing in wisdom…
Seeking harmony within the chaos…
Working on the act of balancing in our lives…
Cultivating our connection with The Force.
So if you have failed…
Know that you are not alone.
More importantly…
Understand that it is not about whether you fail…
But whether you decide to become intentional about your growth.
You can always make a new decision to be intentional.
Where do you want to rededicate yourself to being intentional today?
