I have been doing alot of reading. I have been talking to various people and also researching other sites and I would like to know what does this place (TOTJO) consider a Shadow Jedi, also in light of the 'break' would a Shadow Jedi still be considered a Jedi.
(I am speaking of Shadow Jedi - not Sith - I have a vague definition from what I have read, but I will post that at another time)

I think i would consider myself a grey jedi (if this helps settle your mind)
But as ive said numerous times, a follower fo the force is a Jedi in my mind.

I don't even know what a Shadow or Grey Jedi is.
About the break.
I know the Sith Oath but promised not to reveal it.
A person who takes our Jedi Oath and believes in our Creed and Doctrine is a Jedi.
The Sith Oath contradicts the Jedi Oath in at least on significant way.
A person cannot take both oaths without lying about one of them.
TOTJO did not 'kick out' The Sith. Taking the Sith Oath one ceases to be a Jedi so Sith are now guests just like any other people who wish to learn and participate without actually joining.
An extremely adept Jedi Master is a Master of The Force; not just the 'light' side or the 'dark' side. I'm only using these terms for a reference point as there is not really a dark / light side of The Force.
A Jedi Master knows as much about 'the dark side' as a Sith Master.
Here's the best parable from the movies. Yoda was able to reflect, vanquish or hold up and throw back Sith Lightning. He had to know all about it to do that.

I understand your question Gabriel, prior to being a member of TOTS I choose to be a Shadow or Gray Jedi. I can only base an answer on the way I understood the definitions, so this is only the way 'I' see things.
I worked very hard at being a \"light\" Jedi, over time there came instances that I clearly had different views than my Brothers and Sisters of the Order, Namely I cannot forgive when someone has committed a certain deed. (we shall not get into that particular case here, it doesn't add to this discussion in any way)
Instead of lying to myself and to my friends, at that time, I stepped from the light and took the title of Shadow or Gray Jedi simply to not misslead anyone. I believe in the what you see is what you get. In all ways I practiced the Jedi way as best I could with the exception of a few traits.
When a Jedi came to me for advice, they received counsel from the Jedi in me. If a shadow came for advice, they received advice from both sides...it was up to them to take either, or both. In this way I could respect the beliefs of all without inposing my beliefs upon them.
Now Br. John is absolutely right in saying, he doesn't even know what a Shadow of Gray Jedi is. In essence their are no \"real\" differences between a \"light\" and a \"shadow\" Jedi, a Jedi is a Jedi. The force is the common link.
Good Luck in your journey - MTFBWY

To assume that all Jedi are the same I think is rather bland in its vision and simplistic in its understanding of people. That is what Jedi are after all people, people with differing moralistic views, religious conviction, real life experience and thought systems. There is good reason for there to be light, grey, shadow and what not. Jedi experience unification only in the one and same Force and their oath. How they live this, translate this is another cup of tea.
I also was under the impression that Jedi cannot become Masters of the Force since it is the Force which is their directive and not the other way around. At least that is what the Temple Doctrine infers.

I should also add something, beware of connecting titles used here directly with the Starwars fiction...the Shadow's of fiction were the so called secret police of the Jedi I believe. I do not read SW fiction extensively, so I may be wrong, and I'm not about to use my limited time researching such a trivial thing... Get to know the people, share time and conversation, and decide for yourself where you fit in...hey maybe you're the first voodoo-jedi! Enjoy your time here. Point is don't take titles and fictional roles too seriously.
We are a real world organization of members who try to live our lives based on the Jedi ideals from the films...obviously The fiction is far removed from the challenges of living in 'real life'. I may be a Sith and belong to TOTS, but I am not plotting the downfall of the galaxy in order to insall myself as grand poobah...maybe that's what some do believe, I certainly hope not!

...Anyway how did we get onto the subject of the Sith, I thought Gabriel said he was not interested in that?

well, I have never read any of the Star Wars fiction (I know only the 6 movies). I said 'Shadow Jedi' because it was just atitle that people could read and understand what I was trying to mean. It worked, but no, I am not into the Secret Police, or stuff like that.
It was just a label for a Jedi and a point of view, I think best describes it. but thank you for all you replied, all of you.

A Jedi becomes a Master then continues to train in arts of misdirection, manipulation and many aspects that they would not use (save in rare exceptions) so that they can defend themselves against these powers and recognize them.
A Jedi is guided by the Jedi Creed and even it must be taken as a parable. Forgiving is not same as forgetting. Pardoning does not always mean letting someone totally off the hook for the consequences of their actions.
As Master Kyp said \"There is no emotions there is peace\" is much better said as emotion yet peace. Jedi learn the footnotes and commentary during their training.
This topic is large and I'm not trying to cover it all in this brief post.
Sith are not evil and Jedi are not good; that depends on the person.
Beyond Jedi Master is a Master of The Force who still follows the Jedi Creed and Code.
I founded the Fifth Rite and TOTS. It's no secret I became Lord Maleficus but after some time realized that this a path but not my path.
I freely and irrevocably gave TOTS to the Sith and have embraced Jediism with a renewed faith and sense of purpose.
There is no Jedi vs. Sith plot or any reason for one to be against the other.
It's just as simple as 4+1=5 that the Sith Oath voids the Jedi Oath and vice versa. It's not possible to take both oaths without one of them being false.
There is no such thing as a round square and there is no such thing as a Sith-Jedi.
The branching off of the Fifth Rite into TOTS is the natural progression of growth. While we both believe in the same Force we approach life and our code of conduct in different ways.
One can only decide which is the right path for oneself and what is right for me may very well not be right for another.
The same glasses I wear to see and am legally blind without would make most people legally blind if they had to wear them.
The insulin I inject every morning keeps me healthy but for a non-diabetic it's poison and could kill them.

here, maybe this will enlighten you, a Shadow Jedi could be described as a Jedi, who embraces their darker nature, without giving in fully to it. using it rather as a tool, I consider myself one of these because I'm willing to use whatever is at my disposal to serve my purposes, however my purposes are that of preventing harm, repairing injustice, and helping other. I would not murder someone in cold blood, but if someone points a gun at me and its him or me, I'll break his limbs. maybe he survives, maybe he doesn't, I know he's never gonna point a gun at me again. see, I consider a Shadow Jedi someone who doesn't stick to labels or titles, of dark or light, but sways between the two and yet is really neither. but a bit of both. ok, when I was younger I was into some serious bad stuff. I considered myself an enemy of humanity at one point(lowest point, really, considering Even committing murder,.). but I changed from that because I realized how wrong I was.but today I occasionally look back through to my old ways get all Mad with rage and go to town a pecan tree to get some smoking wood for a Barbeque, something like that.. I guess it's like using passion to accomplish things, but controlling yourself and focus it to a non-destructive end (if you can count lopping off some tree limbs non destructive:P )yeah, that makes sense (also, being really really stealthy:lol:!)
I guess that's my take on things
