(21:06:22) Alexandre_Orion: ******************
(21:06:35) Alexandre_Orion: Welcome one and all to this, the occasion of the Ordination of one of our members. Let us begin the ceremony in reflection :
(21:09:04) Alexandre_Orion: ***************
(21:09:16) Alexandre_Orion: May the Force be with you all ...
(21:09:29) Rosalyn_J: And also with you
(21:09:35) Adhara: and with you
(21:09:46) Loudzoo: and also with you
(21:09:46) Alexandre_Orion: We offer our thanks for the insight that springs from the Force as we seek to apply it to our lives.
(21:09:57) Alexandre_Orion: As beings of light we connect with our brothers and sisters in the Universal Moment
and as beings of flesh and bone our footsteps walk this Earth and echo in time.
(21:10:07) Alexandre_Orion: Grant us the focus, knowledge and wisdom to live each moment as best we can --
(21:10:19) Alexandre_Orion: As mortal creatures,
(21:10:26) Alexandre_Orion: As eternal souls,
(21:10:33) Alexandre_Orion: As Jedi.
(21:10:53) Alexandre_Orion: The Force guides everyone to serve in their own particular way and some of these people are called to minister its truths and mysteries to others. As servants of the people, Ministers are to shepherd them on their respective paths and to guide them to self-discovery and understanding.
(21:11:15) Alexandre_Orion: With their fellow Ministers, they are to sustain the community of the faithful by the ministry of doctrine and guidance, that we all may grow into the fullness of the Force and better understand ourselves.
(21:11:40) Alexandre_Orion: Will the Candidate please step forward and announce herself.
(21:12:01) Rosalyn_J: I am Rosalyn Johnson, herein known as Rosalyn J
(21:12:23) Alexandre_Orion: Are you prepared to accept the responsibilities of the role of Ordained Minister of Jediism on this day?
(21:12:37) Rosalyn_J: I am
(21:13:00) Alexandre_Orion: Will the Presenting Minister please step forward and announce herself.
(21:13:28) V-Tog: I am Victoria Fortin (V-Tog), Senior Jedi Knight and Assistant Pastor/Priest of the Temple of the Jedi Order.
(21:13:45) Alexandre_Orion: Has the Candidate completed all of the required Clerical training as prescribed by the Temple of the Jedi Order?
(21:13:49) V-Tog: Yes, she has.
(21:14:05) Alexandre_Orion: Does the Candidate fulfil the requirements according to their rank at the Temple of the Jedi Order, including all necessary Oaths or Vows?
(21:14:16) V-Tog: Yes, she does.
(21:14:27) Alexandre_Orion: Has the Candidate fulfilled all of the requirements for Ordination as prescribed by the Temple of the Jedi Order?
(21:14:36) V-Tog: Yes, she has.
(21:14:48) Alexandre_Orion: Is the Candidate under any judicial ban that would prevent this Ordination at this time?
(21:14:56) V-Tog: No, she is not.
(21:15:06) Alexandre_Orion: And does this Ordination have the approval of the Council of the Temple of the Jedi Order?
(21:15:11) V-Tog: Yes, it does.
(21:15:22) Alexandre_Orion: Thank you.
(21:15:38) Alexandre_Orion: Ministers are called to be servants among the people. They are to be messengers, watchmen and stewards of the Church. They are to teach and to admonish, to nourish and to support, and to guide the people through the confusions of life, that they may grow in knowledge and wisdom of the Force.
(21:16:09) Alexandre_Orion: As Jedi they are to protect the peace and defend the weak. As Ministers they are to uplift the spirit through the guidance of the Doctrine and the wisdom of the Force. With the qualities of compassion, understanding, tolerance and acceptance, they are to open their arms to embrace the community and to provide counsel in times of need.
(21:16:45) Alexandre_Orion: They are to minister to the sick and prepare those who are transitioning from this world and back to the Force, supporting all those who are affected by such changes. Standing together with their brothers and sisters, they are to provide light through the darkness, that the whole Church may be built up in unity and faith.
(21:17:30) Alexandre_Orion: In addition to this, Ordination is a commitment for Life. It can only be rescinded in the most severe of circumstances as this is a contract between the Minister and the Force, a dedication to serving the people through the Doctrine and the guidance of the Force. This promise is written on the soul and strengthens every fiber of the spirit; as such it is not to be taken lightly and without due consideration.
(21:18:12) Alexandre_Orion: Rosalyn Johnson, Will you on this day devote yourself to the care and the needs of the people as an Ordained Minister of Jediism?
(21:18:31) Rosalyn_J: I will
(21:18:41) Alexandre_Orion: Will you faithfully minister the Doctrine of this church, by which our community may flourish in their faith ?
(21:18:53) Rosalyn_J: I will
(21:19:00) Alexandre_Orion: Will you, reconciled to your eternal existence in the Force, strive to be an instrument of peace in the Temple and in the world ?
(21:19:10) Rosalyn_J: I will
(21:19:22) Alexandre_Orion: Will you stand shoulder to shoulder with your fellow Ministers in upholding the spirits of the people and guiding them to their highest potential ?
(21:19:31) Rosalyn_J: I will
(21:19:46) Alexandre_Orion: And will you strive to further your own self, to be the best that you can be and to allow your light to shine forth as inspiration to others that may follow ?
(21:20:02) Rosalyn_J: I will
(21:20:20) Alexandre_Orion: Thank you. Know that you will always be supported by your fellow Ministers, by the Temple itself and by your own faith in the guidance of the Force. With this in mind, it is with great pleasure that I ordain you as a Minister and Deacon of Jediism and state that you shall henceforth be known as Rev. Rosalyn Johnson OCP. May the Force be with you !
(21:20:40) Alexandre_Orion: :)
(21:20:43) Alexandre_Orion: Should any member wish to say anything, please feel free to do so now.

(21:21:45) Loudzoo: Congratulations Rev. Rosalyn Johnson OCP:)
(21:21:57) Vusuki: Will you also promise *not* to get your next meeting on the temple slightly off? :p
(21:22:11) Rosalyn_J: huh?
(21:22:25) Rosalyn_J: oh yeah I will work on that
(21:22:42) Alexandre_Orion: As a function of her new position, Reverend Rosalyn Johnson, Deacon of the Order, will now present us with a sermon ...
(21:22:47) Alexandre_Orion: Ros ...
(21:22:51) Alexandre_Orion: ;)
(21:22:53) Rosalyn_J: Yes sir
(21:23:23) Rosalyn_J: After such a powerful moment, let us begin with a moment of reflection
(21:25:37) Rosalyn_J: May the Force be with you all
(21:25:50) Alexandre_Orion: and also with you, Ros ...
(21:25:58) V-Tog: And with you :)
(21:26:12) Loudzoo: and also with you
(21:26:25) Vusuki: and with you
(21:27:00) Rosalyn_J: “The purpose of the clergy is to help people as best we can to find their own answers to life’s big questions”
(21:27:28) Rosalyn_J: No. You won’t find this on a section of the FAQ’s or the charter for the Synod, or anyone’s signature…except perhaps mine.
(21:28:05) Rosalyn_J: The above is my interpretation of the purpose of the clergy and a very fitting topic for my ordination sermon.
(21:28:21) Alexandre_Orion: (whispers to Akkarin) and we might want to fix that
(21:28:34) Rosalyn_J: It will serve as my compass, to help me find my way should I get lost, but what does it mean?
(21:28:47) Rosalyn_J: Clergy are first and foremost “helpers”.
(21:29:06) Rosalyn_J: We provide support for those in need,
(21:29:22) Rosalyn_J: not stepping in to do for others what they can do for themselves, but not being afraid to offer a hand as well.
(21:29:48) Rosalyn_J: We believe in the agency and capability of people to explore their own labyrinths, to ask and answer their own questions, to tame their own dragons.
(21:30:12) Rosalyn_J: We do not shape and mold people into “model” anything. Instead, we help people (re) discover who they are.
(21:30:39) Rosalyn_J: Clergy are lifelong learners.
(21:30:53) Rosalyn_J: The phrase “as best we can” is continually evolving.
(21:31:17) Rosalyn_J: The “as best we can” of yesterday will not be the “as best we can” of today and won’t be the “as best we can” of tomorrow, for we will have grown and we will be different.
(21:31:56) Rosalyn_J: Life’s big questions may be different for everyone at every stage
(21:32:18) Rosalyn_J: even though they revolve around some pretty big themes: purpose, life after death, relationships, etc.
(21:32:53) Rosalyn_J: Therefore, in addition to being supportive and willing to learn, Clergy are also flexible and understanding.
(21:33:30) Rosalyn_J: They simply deal with the person(s) and situation(s) in front of them,
(21:33:45) Rosalyn_J: not trying to impose, not trying to create, but working on exploring the answers that are already inside of the individual.
(21:34:12) Rosalyn_J: Having unpacked this purpose, I’ve resolved to give myself a few pointers as I embark on this new phase of my journey.
(21:34:31) Rosalyn_J: You may find that these are useful to you as well, regardless of stage or station.
(21:34:51) Rosalyn_J: 1. Remember why you are here, doing what you are doing.
(21:35:07) Rosalyn_J: There are a couple of reasons why we need a reminder:
(21:35:24) Rosalyn_J: a. We may be afraid.
(21:35:44) Rosalyn_J: Fear can come along and rob of us the potential to fulfil our purpose.
(21:36:09) Rosalyn_J: It happens.
(21:36:25) Rosalyn_J: But your purpose must be bigger than your fear.
(21:36:44) Rosalyn_J: Think of all the people you will help by stepping out
(21:36:55) Rosalyn_J: All the lives you will touch
(21:37:21) Rosalyn_J: Then, even though we may still feel that fear, we can go forward.
(21:37:39) Rosalyn_J: b. We may be tired.
(21:38:08) Rosalyn_J: . There are a lot of ways and a lot of reasons to feel tired, especially as a “helper”.
(21:38:33) Rosalyn_J: We can get stuck in a pattern of simply “doing”, or we may not “do” anything.
(21:38:49) Rosalyn_J: Frankly, I don’t know which is worse.
(21:39:11) Rosalyn_J: Tiredness does happen and if you think I’m going to tell you to push through and just deal with it because your purpose has to be bigger than your feelings, then you are wrong.
(21:39:34) Rosalyn_J: Part of “remembering why you are here” is learning to set healthy boundaries.
(21:39:55) Rosalyn_J: Know your limits, and when you honestly reach them, express that.
(21:40:11) Rosalyn_J: Whatever your station and situation, in order to do your job well you need to know when you are at your best and when you are not.
(21:40:39) Rosalyn_J: 2. Remember it is “as best we can”
(21:40:53) Rosalyn_J: This can be looked at in two ways:
(21:41:08) Rosalyn_J: a. Go the extra mile.
(21:41:28) Rosalyn_J: Think of your job, whatever it is, as not just a job,
(21:41:42) Rosalyn_J: but as a vocation, to be treated with reverence, to be done with excellence.
(21:41:57) Rosalyn_J: Work with that understanding in mind
(21:42:16) Rosalyn_J: b. Learn from your mistakes
(21:42:31) Rosalyn_J: As long as we are living, we are going to make mistakes.
(21:42:48) Rosalyn_J: Mistakes, not successes, are how we grow, how we learn.
(21:43:09) Rosalyn_J: Mistakes are how we improve our “as best we can” so long as we learn from them.
(21:43:29) Rosalyn_J: Finally, I leave you with this quote from Martin Luther King Jr.
(21:43:47) Rosalyn_J: “If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as a Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry.
(21:44:18) Rosalyn_J: He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, ‘Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.”
(21:45:33) Rosalyn_J: With this in mind I am happy to take on the mantle of Deacon, and with the Force as my helper and guide I hope to "do my job well"
(21:46:13) Rosalyn_J: Remembering another quote: “No work is insignificant. All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.”
(21:46:38) Rosalyn_J: Thank you and may the Force be with you all
(21:47:06) ren: And also with you
(21:47:06) Alexandre_Orion: ... and with you, Ros. :)
(21:47:14) Kamizu: And with you
(21:47:19) Connor_L.: Force Guide and Protect you, Roz.
(21:47:39) V-Tog: And also with you
(21:47:59) Rosalyn_J: I'd be most delighted if you all could join me in reciting the Creed
(21:48:23) Rosalyn_J: I am a Jedi an instrument of peace
(21:48:29) Alexandre_Orion: I am a Jedi, an instrument of peace ;
(21:48:42) Kamizu: I am a Jedi an instrument of peace
(21:49:09) V-Tog: I am a Jedi, an instrument of peace;
(21:49:43) Rosalyn_J: Where there is hatred, I shall bring love

(21:49:48) Alexandre_Orion: Where there is hatred I shall bring love ;
(21:49:50) Akkarin: Where there is hatred, I shall bring love
(21:50:11) V-Tog: Where there is hatred, I shall bring love;

(21:50:38) Rosalyn_J: Where there is injury pardon;
(21:50:55) Akkarin: Where there is injury pardon;
(21:50:58) V-Tog: Where there is injury, pardon;

(21:52:47) Akkarin: Where there is despair, hope;
(21:52:49) Loudzoo: Where there is despair, hope;
(21:52:51) Kamizu: Where there is despair, hope;
(21:52:54) V-Tog: Where there is despair, hope;
(21:53:22) Rosalyn_J: Where there is darkness, light;
(21:53:26) Alexandre_Orion: Where there is darkness, light ;
(21:53:31) Kamizu: Where there is darkness, light;
(21:53:35) V-Tog: Where there is darkness, light;
(21:53:40) Akkarin: Where there is darkness, light;

(21:54:13) Kamizu: And where there is sadness, joy.
(21:54:15) Loudzoo: And where there is sadness, joy;
(21:54:40) V-Tog: And where there is sadness, joy;
