Flip - Flop

A few weeks ago, my boss tells me that I was caught speeding, in the community in which I work.... And to watch my speed...

I was in my personal vehicle on a day off....

My supervisor tells me our local police officers caught me speeding and mentioned it to his father, who happens to be our village President.... Who is, of course, over my supervisor and myself...

The President mentioned it to my supervisor, who then told me...

I was a little ticked... These guys ain't my Dad, are not my parents or spouse, if there is an issue, come to me... None of the kids games, please....

I was thinking I need to talk to this young man and let him know that "Daddy", didn't need to hear all about the village... Mine is not the first complaint of this nature....

While I am trying to formulate a polite, non-confrontational way, I found myself in the same situation, with the same officer, except now our roles were reversed...

Here I am, trying to examine every situation, and I walked right into a similar scenario...

While trying to avoid being to specific, I will try to tell this one as well...

So I was asked to do a favor by person "A"... I did it...

Not thinking much about it... I took the favor to person "A"...

While talking to person "A", the reason for the favor involved the policeman... Once informed of the reason, I said to throw it away... Not because of the people involved, but the reason for the favor... I deemed it unethical by my standards...

I went back, and mentioned this to my supervisor... He mentioned it to our trustee, who then agreed it bordered on unethical... So he advised talking to the Police Chief...

The Police Cheif, then interveiwed us all to find out what the deal was....

The Officer received a write-up for this incident...

I'm not happy... I talked out of turn about this incident, resulting in this officers discipline...

I feel I need to discuss this with him...

I'm not happy, for I did what he did, basically...

Now what?

Do I need to talk to myself about keeping my mouth shut?

*sigh*

“Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny."

I still feel the need to talk to him... Now to explain my words...

Just a little reminder.... Ain't none of us perfect....

Too true Master Jestor! Isn`t it strange how history repeats itself no matter how we try to change that. There is one thing I would like to add though, that we are often the harshest to ourselves because we forget "Ain`t none of us perfect!"...
