these old shoes are worn and ragged,
smudged with stained unsightly tears
night and day my feet have dragged
these old shoes everywhere

to wander in the wilderness
to laugh and love the living night
what terrors might an echo bring?
or windy sighs of soft delight?

to walk the ways of desperate days
in a desperate daze of hurt and woe
where streets are made of razors blades
and glitter grin at broken soles

to run faster than the wind that screams
and mocks my failures as i fly
to run so fast i catch the dreams
that long ago had past me by

these old shoes are worn and ragged
by the march theyve made to here from there
night and day my feet still drag
these old shoes everywhere

People are complicated.

Blank white page in dust
Virgin untouched by black marks
Dead still pen besides
With hidden strength.

Already processed
Order waiting for chaos
The sweet clumsy touch
Of potential life.

I see and write and I read and I feel

In some way shape or form these poems are all real

I want to convey these emotions that torment

Trying to escape from the everlasting present

Shying from the past always looking to the future

What is going to come I’m never really too sure

So I feel and I read and I write and I see

Giving away all these little pieces of me

I don’t want ‘em go ahead and take some

Half the time I don’t know where they come from

Out of the blue the hit me like rockets

Feeling electrified like my fingers in a socket

So I write and I see and feel and I read

Looking to myself I beg and I plead

Coming to conclusions I don’t want to hear

Circumstance leaving nothing to chance it’s all to clear

I know what I want and I’m gonna go and get it

Nothing will stop me from getting what I’m gonna get

And I read and I feel and see and I write

Often alone in the middle of the night

The poems of these others I sit and I read

I look to myself and I sit and I plead

I look all around and I try to see

Unsure of this thing I like to call me

I look inside and I begin to feel

Trying to convey all the things that are real

So If you’re up at night, you can watch me write

Brought on by what I’ve read after I sat and I plead

Desperately trying to see what is inside of me

Maybe, just maybe you’ll feel, something inexplicably real

Awake At Night: A Poem from a Dark Time

Have you ever lain awake at night

while the voices whisper in your ears

Staring into nothingness

as they voice your deepest fears

Inadequacies, doubts and all your flaws

Your reminded of your past

The happiness fades so easily

and pain is all that lasts

Invictus - William Ernest Henley

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

A little carpe diem poem that I read recently...

"Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old time is still a-flying;
And this same flower that smiles today
Tomorrow will be dying.

The glorious lamp of heaven the sun,
The higher he's a-getting,
The sooner will his race be run,
And nearer he's to setting.

That age is best which is the first,
When youth and blood are warmer;
But being spent, the worse, and worst
Times still succeed the former.

Then be not coy, but use your time,
And, while ye may, go marry;
For, having lost but once your prime,
You may forever tarry."

Robert Herrick

(Partly heard within Dead Poets Society starring Robin Williams)

The space that flows between us howls with icy wind,
Finger tip trails swirl around me
They penetrate my heart
Hollow I bend,
my knees hit the floor.
My hands slam down to catch
The weight of unspoken words
Beaten down my breath escapes
Whispered sorrow that catches in the wind,
And is torn away,
Unheard,
Softly I crumble,
No room for life,
Nothing left but tears that flow aimlessly,
To splash beside my tattered dreams.
No one sees,
Hidden by my shadow I watch,
As carelessly you walk your path,
No thoughts cross your mind
Already forgotten, already past,
The earth tumbles over,
A shroud to give me warmth,
Shelter from watchful sorrows.
It enfolds me and grateful I rest,
As one within the bitter ground

A heartbeat,
To shatter lives,
And tear apart the web we weave,
So delicately entwined to hold our lives,
Balanced eternally above the deepest pit,
That yearns to taste each fallen fear,
Alone you stand within the storm,
Trembling beneath the swollen clouds,
Bare feet upon the bittersweet sharpness of the broken earth,
And hands outstretched without purpose,
Time stops
The silence speaks in rhythm's of emotion,
While violence rages on,
For the moment cannot bear to witness,
That which explodes into being,
Too much, too bright,
This fragile form we shape in shifting sands
To wash away and become nothing more than
Endless echo's that throw themselves,
Upon the uncaring witness
To our final step,
To our lovers dance

Everything is belief

Drip...
So heavy my limbs,
So tired, such an effort to rise up from the comfort blanketness the warm doziness that has fastened me securely to the darkness behind my eyes,
Drip...drip
Yet it disturbs me,
Like an echo that swirls slowly around,
That sound,
Drip.....drip
It calls to me with shattered teeth,
Painful stiring within my bones,
Wounds the silence with its sharp breath,
Drip.......drip,
I am falling into myself,
With sweet abandonment,
Gently darkness caresses' each curve and I am melting into familiar feelings,
Yet....
Drip.........drip
Such a battle just to turn my head,
My cheek resting against the soothing marble,
Eyes flutter like dying wings,
Drip..............drip
There is a pattern of life that smears the reality of the surface it barely touches,
It spreads,
A flow that leaks into each line,
Reflecting surrender,
Drip.........................drip,
I am undone,
I cant turn back, too many steps along this path,
Barely a choice, more a natural feature of the stumble across what holds us here,
And what are we?
If unable to be?
If it slips away, as a wave will flow back into the ocean,
And you cannot bear the uncovered bleakness?
Drip..
Welcomed into the eternity of nothing and nowhere
That reaches eagerly to taste the last memory of what is.
And........
Silence so deep you can taste the metallic flavour....

Everything is belief

I feel the cold wind of the forrest
Touch the sky with feeling
Streel the light rays with my heart
Bag with love, on the mail.

Gaia, where did you go?
The enlightening night leaving my soul
Feel the truth of ignorance
Making yourself part of yourself

The cold wind touches the forrest
Skycloud, pleace smile back
let it not be lost, little moon
Ask the rays to sing my song
Sending bags with love,
Never to be gone

Before a dream I stand, eyes taking in
An unrelenting force that wisps me back again
Concrete of mirrored glass acts the framework of my imagery
While the recall takes form and I can't stop from rushing back

Now actions I can't afford,
Whether to deny or..
So with nothing left to me
I guess I'll have to just watch it pour

Once more into Cobalt
Where anxious I wait, all soul to be paid
But only dying to see again
If only 'til I fall asleep
To the hum of that elegant machine
I would be a world alone

And it's gonna crash down on me
To silence all weathering
And I will wish that I would never leave that place
And it means so much more to me then I could try to say
So just find this side of me
Among the lights in the rain

Before the turn I rest
I have to catch breath in the cold
A distant radiance found in this bluest of darkened worlds
A white shade of the same presses through my weakness
Evolved and limitless, triggers a once silent restlessness

Now actions I've yet to raise
Cannot wait here implied
So if it's all up to me,
I'll have to open my eyes

Once more into Cobalt
Where anxious I wait, all soul to be paid
But only dying to see again
And the hum is sharper than before
A silent commander
"kill the boy and let live the man we've all been waiting for."

Now it comes crashing down on me
To master all weathering
And I wish that I would never leave this place
It's become so much more of me
Than I could try to say
So just find this side of me
Among the lights in the rain

Bloom forth, words of the wise
Whispering in spoken legend
"As all has begun, all must come to an end,
But for now it won't"

Live in honest tragedy
Perspective owned, for what may seem
Oh, how we know, and how we don't

Give up what I might know
A wish see it among all
For not but the cost to see your eyes
In the "hello" and "goodbye"

Fear or not, to me, you will be treasured
You are the lovely and bent
You are the means and the end

And a perfect product of fullness
Will be by you
You, the premise

As you were now, masterpiece
Return in whatever frequency
But who are we to know anything
We're everything that matters

As the wisest of us know
Wisdom is not enough alone
To tell of whatever of what you are
Brothers and sisters of the stars

Fear or not, to me, you will always be treasured
You are the lovely and bent
You are the means and the end

And a perfect product of fullness
Will be by you
Oh, you, the premise

Integrity of my little moon and bee

Integrity, an subjective understanding.
when I do, I will tell that I do.
when I tell that I do, I will do.

Integrity as a way of becoming transparent.
the way of transparency, a way to make trust.

no influence will be enough.
to be strong enough to feel it.

Fighting arts does not exist without integrity.
not exist without love, truth of neutral.

love the people that you do not like.
do not like the people that you love.

the shadow of my moon shines in my back.
feeling about the long way of the rays.

bags of love did not come, from my rays.
bags of love came from my inner moon.

reflected by integrity.
makes the truth of the actions of your rays.

Little moon where did you go?
Call to the stars to sing my song.
Request the wind to bury my soul.

Let me fly with bags of love.
Shine with a world view.
no opinion is no subjective understanding.

Integrity requests sacrifice.

let go your moon, reflection and neutral ways.
Opinions go with the wind, denotation of the soul.

fly my little moon.
shine my small bee.

it is not your will, but my integrity.
transparent way of reflecting emotions.

truth associated with predictability.

Slipping to the moon

Slipping to the moon,
I wave my flag,
From the far side of dreams
I wait for the call back to earth
Drifting in the wind of chance
Softly I touch and linger,
Before the dry ground pushes
And away I drift once more
Held to no anchor
I turn, toss and watch
But bound in imaginary string
I dare not struggle to break it
There’s comfort in my pillow
Roughly round and hard
Red butter swirling inside
Turning outside both black and white
Strapped to the belly of the cloud
I gaze at the people below
Cut into squares and circles
I wave a hand and I fall
One day I lie to you
This nightmare will end
One day you lie to me
This dream will begin
For now is forever,
And forever is for now
Here I go always on my way
Slipping to the moon

Poem of riddles..

Roll in the mud, scruffy and elegant, carrying the load.
Take it as fast as the wind, devour your inner grass.
Fly the wings from your body as cruel as poison.
Be both traceable and know when to send yourself.
Go together, but know where to find each branch in your tree of destiny.
You give the morning a new sound, let the sun come up slow and walk your daily round.

Small bird fly up, big dodo drops out sky.
Look up in the sky to see, when darkness covers your eyes
Look down and understand, riddles have come.

I didn't really know where to put this... it's not really poetry, but I couldn't think of any better place for it to go. I have only posted an excerpt, but the video is much better.

“...The way of life can be free and beautiful. But we have lost the way.

Greed has poisoned men's souls, has barricaded the world with hate;
has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed.
We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in;
machinery that gives abundance has left us in want.
Our knowledge has made us cynical,
our cleverness hard and unkind.
We think too much and feel too little.
More than machinery we need humanity,
more than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness.

Without these qualities life will be violent and all will be lost.”
