:D Very nice. I wonder if Jesus was the first abductee. The aliens were like: "So... this dude is really cool... he seems more civilized than everybody else... let's take him!"

No, M ... It was from Babylon 5.

Jeffrey Sinclair gets abducted by the Mimbari, remember ?

What did they discover ? What happened ? ;)

You're right! I have been watching all of Stargate (just finished it) I forgot Old Faithful (Babylon 5). Technically you could say Iron Heart was the first human, before that I guess the First Ones...

If I can give my opinion..

Yes, it's funny, but I thing that if we want be respected, we must respected the other belief. We must respect the Faith, because this is important for a lot of human being.

Last but not least, if we want to be taken seriously, and not like some kind of clowns, we must accept this other belief.

To conclude my opinion, I mean that this kind of joke had not his place in a Temple.

Just my opinion. May The Force Be With You All.

PEACE

I could see it being offensive if we only made fun of other religions, saying how ours is the best, like so many of theothers do...

But, not only should we not offend others, but not be quick to be offended, the world is not a nice place...

However, we poke fun at ourselves too...

Careful, bathroom humor...;)

Initially for sure, this is not disrespectful. But it can become.... I explain my point of you.

If somebody joke about your Faith, you going to think that this person disrespect your belief, and vice et versa.

If we want can explain seriously our Temple, our Belief, our Community, our Work, our Religion an another person with another belief than yours, we must haven't some "comic point of you" in our brain and in our heart otherwise it's loosed by advance.

Then, I know that this is the right place to make some joke. But personally I can understand somebody's coming in a Temple to practice her Faith and Belief and finished by talk about her Playstation, Warhammer 40K or other thing like that.

Br.John had created something really genius. And every member must stay focus and serious in the Temple if we want our religion resonates in the hearts and minds for centuries.

MTFBWYA my brothers. PEACE !!!

Besides, Tomy, people who seek to be offended find ways to find the most ordinary things offensive ... In that case, there is much more offensive material here than this.

They wouldn't have to look through our 'humour' rubric to get pissed off.

Perhaps we should open an "offended" thread because I seem to have a few thoughts on that matter, myself.

The picture made me think back to Chariots of the Gods - which, in turn, brought on a lot of other humorous thoughts! :D

And, adding onto what has already said...

I don't think this post was offensive at all, for two reasons.

1) It's not derogatory at all. No profanity or direct blasphemy was used, as far as I can tell  I personally have figured out for myself that the most subtle, witty humor is the type that people really can't get mad about. Or if they did get mad, they'd look like a fool who either has no good sense of humor or gets upset about things that aren't directly offensive.

2) Nobody believes this - that Jesus was abducted by aliens. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty certain that hardly anyone believes in alien abductions. If you make a joke about something that people consider fake to begin with, who's offending who? Is the offended person upset if they make a controversial joke about vampires? Oh, wait, I apologize to all the 12.5 million Twilight fans out there. :silly: It was insensitive and foolish for me to offend your beliefs on vampires.
