Any thoughts?

While I don't normally like celebrities using award shows as a platform for political issues for just issues that don't run parallel with what the show is actually for, as it usually comes of as trying to hog the spotlight and make it and narcissistic, considering he didn't specifically bash anyone I liked it. Specifically his last statements regarding the best of humanity and his last quote from his brother.

I think he should win another Oscar for this performance! I love how he got them all on his side by being super woke and then had them applaud at the idea that we should cancel this SJW cancel-culture bllsht. There was more to this acceptance speech than meets the eye. Usually i hate it when celebrities (who have “assistants” whose entire career is built on their ability to insulate the celebrity from the real life stresses of real life) lecture me about how i should live or eat or vote but this was cool because I understand that he wasnt speaking to me, he was speaking to his own people - critics and other people in the entertainment industry.

Heres what i mean:
Joker perpetuates white supremacy

Joker is a racist movie

Joker will inflame incel violence

Joker mistreats mental health

There are many more examples of this kind of coverage. Woke assholes dumped on Joker when it came out because they have no sense of society other than their inter-sectionalist ideology and the Oppression Olympics that it produces. His speech was basically saying “hey guys, i get that youre trying to do a good thing but like, stop being asshl3s.

Sorry to make your thread political, Proteus. Im sure you posted this because you wanted to share something that you found compelling and meaningful. I agree that it was. I too liked what he said. I just remember seeing how the film was treated before it came out and i think that he chose everything that he said very carefully so as to both be accepted by but also to throw a challenge at this weird trend of SJW ridiculousness thats going on in popular culture right now, especially in the entertainment industry.

People are complicated.

I mean to be honest other than the "milk is unethical" part (which could be a separate and controversial topic on its own haha), the speech really seemed to be purposely vague and more revelatory of what the listener thought. I've seen people with an interpretation of it almost diametrically opposed to Ob1's. So finally seeing it just now after hearing all the different takes was an interesting experience.

The first time I heard this, I only caught part of the speech and I thought that he was being political, which turned me off entirely. But after taking the chance and really listening to what he was saying, all I can say is, Amen, brother. Amen.

There is a fine line between insight and insanity.
