Agreed. What's wrong with water? It's soo goooood *drool*

But I do love this, steamboat28 "Remember kids, everything in moderation--including moderation itself."

There was this thing I read on pinterest:

Rules:

1. Only eat when hungry
2. Stop eating at the very first sign of fullness
3. Only drink tea or water
4. Exercise every day
5. Only eat nutritious food
6. Never eat fast food
7. Break a rule every four days to maintain sanity

Made me laugh, because number 7 was so smart. When you stress about doing everything healthy and perfect you end up doing more harm than good. I mean, shoot, we all run on different systems. My great granddad lived into his mid nineties and he drank, smoked, and ate "bad" foods all the time. My great grandmother loooved to eat Reeses and other sweets. She too lived into her nineties.

Eat what makes your body feel good, but cut yourself some slack if you mess up.

I just don't like it. Unless it's direct from a pure source, it has no flavor as far as I'm concerned, and it does little for the psychological aspect of my thirst. That, and when compared to other things that are *mostly* water (like tea), it doesn't have nearly as many goodies in it. I'm often found shouting my belief that "water is an ingredient, not a beverage."

Since december I've lost 50 pounds(60 in the past year and a half)...I didn't give up any foods, didn't use some new fad workout or anything like that...what I did was change the way I prepare my food, went from eating 3 meals a day to eating 5-6 smaller meals a day and increased the amount of water I drank....I don't like water much as it's bland when drinkable and smells/tastes nasty when not from a pure source(it's sad we now have to pay for drinkable water)...I still eat fried chicken, mcdonalds fries, pizza, etc so the whole "only eat nutritious food" thing is bumpkiss if done in moderation...it's not so much what you eat as how you eat...I listen to my body, it knows what it needs and when it needs it...cravings are often your body's way of letting you know what it needs...but not always as they can also be your minds desire to relive a particular sensation...

I agree that if your aim is to be at a goal weight, you can eat whatever you want and still get results. However, if you want over-all health and wellness, you cannot. Unless, of course, all you want to eat are healthy foods, then you can :P
Some food isn't food. It's purely man-made chemical garbage. Fried foods, fast foods, greasy foods - just like sugar - are toxic to your body and create serious problems within your body. You can look thin on the outside and fat on the inside.

Ah but each persons body is different....every single health screening I've had has been great...I've tried the whole no meat thing for a week (dr's orders after an appendectomy) I made it 3days before I was so starved I defied the dr's orders...I was so physically weak that I couldn't stand for more than a few minutes without trembling and eventually falling...I'm in outstanding overall health according to the dr...especially now that I've lost the extra weight (which I only lost to prove a point to my sis and bro-in-law)... in the navy one of my collateral duties was fitness coordinator, which meant it was my responsibility to make sure everyone in my department could pass the bi annual fitness test...this required knowing diet and exercise for a wide variety of individuals...each body is unique and has different food and exercise requirements so there is no single "one size fits all" plan...

I suppose that's true - everyone's body is different. I just think back to all the things I've read about the damage it can cause. I also think it's interesting that everyone I know who has had cancer was recommended to begin a vegan or even raw food diet, or to at least cut processed foods out completely and eat more raw fruits and vegetables. There has to be more to that than just peace of mind for the patient..
Maybe I read too much :P

I used to work in a nursing home...most of the residents had all the worst eating, drinking, and smoking habits and most were in their 90's...how often do they discovery a "healthy" habit to only later discover it's not as "healthy" as they previously thought... caffiene was good, then it was bad, now it's good again...my grandfather ate very badly, smoked like a chimney, and drank like a fish, and he died last year at 86...I've read articles about vegans that lived "ideal healthy" lifestyles dying from cancer and other diseases that were supposedly linked to unhealthy life styles...

Didn't the same thing happen with eggs? And now coconut oil?? I've heard milk is good for bones and have also heard the complete opposite.
I guess when it comes right down to it - you can only do the best you can do, right? Listen to your own body and pay attention?
It's amazing how our bodies look so similar but are so extremely different at the same time.

That's really all one can do...listen to the needs of their body....

Yes it's quite fascinating...we have the same basic features/functions/needs but meet/utilize them differently...welcome to evolution :P
