“The Jedi are selfless. They only care about others.”
************************
The majority of people in this world are self-centered
takers, but not the Jedi! The Jedi Path teaches us the
importance of service. There is a lot of joy in
giving, and the Jedi believe in volunteerism and in
serving others. The Jedi are role models for service
and giving.
The Jedi place a high emphasis on service because
there is so much value in serving others. If you
haven’t noticed already, Jedi prefer to live their
lives on the contributing and serving side, instead of
always being on the receiving side.
Sometimes it’s necessary and good to receive too, of
course, but the Jedi prefer to stay more on the
contributing side. Why? Because that’s the way of the
Force; the Force is always giving, giving, giving
without expecting anything back in return. The Jedi
are like this too.
What are some of the practical benefits of serving
others? Here are just a few that I thought of:
-Service helps remove our egotistical / egocentric
thinking.
-Service diminishes the self, and helps bring us out
of our self.
-Service removes our feelings of selfishness and
self-centeredness.
-Service removes energy blockages within us and
increases the flow of positive energy.
-Service connects us with tide of humanity instead of
being cut off from others; we are One.
Yes, it is possible to live a life of service instead
of being a self centered taker all the time. But how?
Try doing an unselfish act of kindness for someone.
We can start by doing something beneficial for someone
else today. We can start by volunteering to help
people in some way, and then keep adding to that.
Eventually, step by step, we can get more and more on
the contributing side of life instead of on the taking
side.
If we keep on trying, sooner or later the majority of
our actions will be service orientated instead of
taking orientated. We need to teach our children, our
Padawan learners, the value of service too; the joy of
service will stick with them for the rest of their
lives. We can be their role models and teach them the
value of service.
Will you be a greedy self-centered taker for the rest
of your life? Or will you live a life full of rich and
rewarding service? The choice is yours alone. MTFBWY
Always! JK
