I am a hospice doctor looking after a young man dying from cancer. He has professed his faith as being of the Jedi Order. In our team we always do our utmost to address our patients religious and spiritual needs as well as empowering them and their families to enact any "death rituals" or customs as the end of life ensues.
He is reconciled with the fact he is going to die and I beleive his faith in the Force strenghthens him considerably.
Are there any customs I should be aware of ? Any post death rituals that need attending.
I am aware that some Jedis have a funeral pyre and we have managed to negotiate with a funeral director who can facilitate this request, albeit modified within a crematorium..
Is there any further advice you can offer?
I am grateful for your assistance in the care of this special young man.
Sincerely Yours
Simon Noble
